I'm hoping they just move. This has happened to other so called illegal businesses and many of them did just that. Do the owners want to just throw in the towel and live comfortably in the Caribbean?
What about the developers and programmers who just spent years perfecting CloneBD to all of a sudden find themselves unemployed? They are the one's who matter, they know the technology, they can keep it going.
Hey Ron, this says nothing??
Antigua & Barbuda may no longer have to fear being placed on a US Priority Watch List after the Antigua based company at the centre of the dispute shut down its website and ceased sales.
A group of major Hollywood studios and technology partners last week had asked the US government to intervene to stop the Antigua based firm SlySoft selling its Blu-ray ripping software AnyDVD.
The firms seeking to have the US put pressure on the country included, Warner Bros, Disney, Microsoft and Intel.
Kind of sums up why they went offline to me, and there's more, like US gov't pulling the strings with threats of above Watch List?? Apparently it means something to Antigua.
Says nothing about the forum or what already exists, like OPD......
Might make purchasing the software harder. It was already difficult for a lot of people with them where they were.+1 for that, and with the modern cold-war, I dont see any western association touching them anytime soon.
This corresponds to what James said about "Blu-Ray Java protection (mostly Lionsgate): Recent discs (1 year?) need OPD. Older titles work. OPD results are not cached."I've only tried a couple of Screen Pass discs, from what I have seen more recent releases require the OPD to list the playlist...These discs are not cached (at least not in the regular folder) so they will not work correctly when the OPD goes down.
...
Edit: The problem is AnyDVD thinks it has removed the BD-J protection offline (but it hasn't) so it is hard to tell which ones work offline or not.
My Bond 50 didn't have screenpass, and it seemed completely happy without OPD. (I'm guessing they were old enough to be in the built-in BDPHash. James said: "Blu-Ray BD+, 20th Century Fox: Recent discs (1-2 years?) need OPD. Older titles work. OPD results will be cached locally...")I'm not sure about screenpass just yet. That was what I was going to tackle after I work through all my Fox discs. Bond 50 collection anyone....FML
And..... The reality of a world without AnyDVD kicks in... as I watch MakeMKV not be able to decipher "Victor Frankenstein" Blu-ray..... FML
And.... "The Peanuts Movie" as well...... .... and I thought lionsgate discs were the bane of my existence.... looks like fox discs are as well.
It might be a good idea to set up a backup forum some place in case this one goes down, so people at least have some place to go. (Or at least agree on some existing forum somewhere...)
Not at all, MasterCard, Visa, etc. are not affected by "sanctions"Might make purchasing the software harder.
I've read some posts from a few Team/Ex Team Members recently. It sort of gives the impression there's some sort of hope...
