Problem with a subtitle track that should be forced but is not

The Blu-ray disc is "CARS 2".

Screenshot of the clownbd screens:

http://i.imgur.com/rxS8c.png

On this disc, there are 4 English subtitles tracks.
11, 12, 14, 16

11 = english for the SDH
12 = english
14 = english director commentary
16 = english for the Italian and Japanese dialog (2 spots in movie)

When the movie is played in a hardware blu-ray player, the subtitle track 16 is automatically "on", as a result, subtitles pop up by default at the two spots in the movie where Italian and Japanese are spoken.

The forced flag is not set on any of these subtitle tracks.

I rip the movie to M2TS file using ClownBD. I follow the earlier suggestion to tick "Force Subtitles" to "on" and also use the "up arrow" to move the subtitle track 16 up to the top.

However, after creating the M2TS file, when playing the M2TS file in VLC player, all subtitle tracks are "off" by default and unless I go to the extra step of turning the subtitles on, the movie plays without any subtitles.

I would like to figure out how to create the M2TS file so that subtitles track 16 is automatically "on" when the file is played just like if the original Blu-ray disc is played in a hardware blu-ray player.

Thank you!

Its very easy. You can either manually set the 4th track to be forced (there is a tool on doom9). Alternatively you can move the 4th subtitle to the top and select force subtitles in the options. This will always force subtitles in the 1st position. Or you could learn Japanese.

Thank you for the reply. I did 'Force Subtitles' in options and also moved the "16" subtitles to the top. The screenshots might explain better.

This did not seem to solve the problem for me. In VLC, when playing the M2TS file, subtitles start in "off" position.

Thank you also for the link to the alternative program on doom9. I tried to use it but it does not seem to process M2TS files. I will fiddle with it some more. (I am new at this).

You can only force the subtitles in the Blu-Ray structure. If you're playing a m2ts then you have to manually set it in the playback software.

tsMuxeR.exe is either stopping or failing to launch

Hi Mike,

I have been using AnyDVD HD, Clown BD and BD Rebuilder to back-up my Blu-rays for the past few months with no major problems. I just ran into issues with both Iron Man and Iron Man 2 and Clown BD. After ripping both movies to a hard drive via AnyDVD HD, I attempted to use Clown BD to make .iso files of each. My repeated attempts have been unsuccessful. tsMuxeR.exe either stops working for fails to launch. Attached are the logs for the most recent attempt on Iron Man 2. Please advise.

Please post the .meta file. What happens when you run these files manually through tsMuxeR:

Code:
[v02] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN/IRON_MAN_2\Video_2.h264"...
[a08] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN/IRON_MAN_2\Audio_8_English.AC3"...
[s11] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN/IRON_MAN_2\Subtitles_11_English.sup"...
[s10] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN/IRON_MAN_2\Subtitles_10_English.sup"...

On 2nd glance it seems to be a user error. Please name your paths correctly:

Code:
[v02] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN/IRON_MAN_2\Video_2.h264"...
[a08] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN/IRON_MAN_2\Audio_8_English.AC3"...
[s11] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN/IRON_MAN_2\Subtitles_11_English.sup"...
[s10] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN/IRON_MAN_2\Subtitles_10_English.sup"...

Code:
[v02] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN[COLOR="Red"]\[/COLOR]IRON_MAN_2\Video_2.h264"...
[a08] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN[COLOR="Red"]\[/COLOR]IRON_MAN_2\Audio_8_English.AC3"...
[s11] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN[COLOR="Red"]\[/COLOR]IRON_MAN_2\Subtitles_11_English.sup"...
[s10] Creating file "d:\TEMP_CLOWN[COLOR="Red"]\[/COLOR]IRON_MAN_2\Subtitles_10_English.sup"...

Good eyes. Definitely wrong path information. I will correct. By the way, the .meta file was not generated. I assume the improper path did not allow it. Thank you!

Real Steel did not parse correctly?

I bought the BD Real Steel today. I don't even have my BD player setup so I wanted to use Clown to throw it on my network. It found all the chapters and everything but at the last page where you can eliminate some things there was nothing there. Nothing to select. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I can try to get a screen shot if that helps.

I have been using ClownBD, eac3to and tsMuxer for over a year with no issues.

last week I ripped 2 of my BR discs 'Super 8' and 'Johnny English Reborn' to Hard drive via AnydvdHD. Ran the above 3 programs over the file etc and created my TS file.

Playback via my eGreatM34 was great in terms of audio/video (HD) as has been but this particular TS file, both TS files froze about 5 minutes to the end. I could not fast forward or rewind. I had no option but to stop the player.

This is the first time it has happened in my 12 months Plus of using this method. I have no clue what could be the issue so maybe asking me some questions may assist? Was using the version before v0.79 but I don't think the version was the issue as I never had any problem whatsoever.

Many Thanks
Pat

I suspect you'll find the eGreatM34 is the issue here. Try playing back with TMT5, if it's ok then you know for sure.

I have no problems with streaming DVD rips.

I have since upgraded to the latest version of clownBD, eac3to and tsMuxer and redid Super 8 TS file. I have a WD LIVE Streamer on another TV and the TS file played fine.

My next test is to stream this new TS file via the eGreat and see how it goes. If it fails again, then it is the eGreat. If the file is fine then I would suspect the new versions fixed whatever issue there was? A bit scepticle though as I had no issues with the eGreat up until last week.

Trouble with subtitles when ripping HD DVDs

I cannot work out what I am doing wrong. I am using clown_bd to rip my HD DVD collection to hard drive. The process fails with tsmuxer looking for files whose names end in ...english_exp.sup when the files that got created end in ...english.sup. I tried renaming the files and the process seemed to complete - but I don't get any subtitle presentation when playing back the resulting movie.

Do you have any suggestions on how I might troubleshoot this problem?

When converting hddvds to bd, Does converting dd+ to dts create exact same quality?

It seems like having clown bd put dd+ from an hddvd into a dts container would be the most efficient way to get a perfect copy of dd+ for blu ray use since it has the same bitrate, however some have said that it will produce an inferior result than lpcm. What are you guys doing with dd+ on hddvd's? Is 1.5mbps dd+ the same as dts 1.5 mbps? Or is going from dd+ to dts doing something else that will degrade the quality?

Answering my own question. You must name the Java subroutine processing program BDSup2Sub.jar - NOT BDSup2Sub400.jar as mine was. Once this was done processing proceeded to conclusion.

I want to convert my .iso 3D Blu-Ray's to .m2ts files. Can I do this with ClownBD? Do I just mount my .iso with Virtual Clone drive, copy the folder to my HDD, load this (BDMV structure) folder with ClownBD and start the ripping process?

If this works like this, how comes that ClownBD only takes 10 minutes or so to go from BDMV to .M2TS and a program like DVDFab takes hours to go from .ISO to .M2TS?

Eliminating Duplicate Subtitles

Hello...

I wondering if there is a way to remove duplicate subtitles before the are they are used by tsmuxer.

I made the error of not having BDSup2Sub.jar in its folder when running ClownBD... and missed out on the Forced Subtitle feature. Fortunately I always rip all the english subtitles from the source file.

Here is what I am trying to accomplish: I have isolated the dialog subtitles and the forced subtitles using eac3to in clownbd.

This is the BluRay.meta file of previously ripped The Phantom Menace:
MUXOPT --no-pcr-on-video-pid --new-audio-pes --blu-ray --vbr --custom-chapters=00:00:00.000;00:00:21.104;00:01:52.738;00:07:55.350;00:09:55.970;00:11:18.761;00:13:24.178;00:14:49.806;00:17:14.242;00:20:40.948;00:22:25.302;00:25:12.886;00:29:32.813;00:31:41.483;00:35:51.733;00:40:48.571;00:44:16.320;00:52:04.580;00:55:03.842;00:58:27.921;01:02:27.702;01:05:33.012;01:10:06.911;01:11:17.940;01:16:20.951;01:18:08.100;01:20:26.363;01:24:18.178;01:26:44.783;01:29:54.723;01:31:02.415;01:33:08.541;01:37:21.419;01:39:06.315;01:42:33.731;01:44:41.567;01:46:19.248;01:48:07.731;01:50:24.952;01:56:47.667;01:59:13.063;02:00:31.391;02:01:21.316;02:02:23.378;02:03:56.971;02:05:15.133;02:06:25.995;02:07:23.177;02:08:28.993;02:09:53.536 --vbv-len=500
V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC, "E:\BluRay\Video_2.h264", insertSEI, contSPS
A_DTS, "E:\BluRay\Audio_3_English.DTS", lang=eng
S_HDMV/PGS, "E:\BluRay\Subtitles_9_English_FORCED.sup", lang=eng (I want to keep this)

S_HDMV/PGS, "E:\BluRay\Subtitles_4_English.sup", lang=eng
S_HDMV/PGS, "E:\BluRay\Subtitles_9_English.sup", lang=eng (I want to eliminate this)

My hope is that since technically both "Subtitles_9" sup files are the same... that I can eliminate the non forced version... which would hopefully eliminate it as a duplicate subtitle choice when selecting subtitles on my Dune.

Can this be done by editing the meta file and .bat file when running in batch mode?

Thanks for your time.

What Am I doing wrong?

Every-time I try and re-mux a HD-DVD I get this error:

eac3to v3.24
command line: "C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\Clown_BD_v0.79 (1)\eac3to\eac3to.exe" "M:\MyVideos\Apollo13 V3 Aacs" -progressnumbers -LOG="M:\MyVideos\Apollo 13 test\LOGS\eac3to_PASS1_LOG.LOG"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HD DVD / Blu-Ray disc structure not found. <ERROR>

I'm feeling really rather foolish as I am obviously missing something simply but I really am lost :bang:

I first ripped the Discs with AnyDVD-HD and I have CloneDrive
