Movie Only Copies: eac3to, tsMuxer & ImgBurn Made Easy

I have searched and cannot find the answer to whether Clown BD decodes DTS-HD MA losslessly? I read Damien's excellent guide and other articles suggesting Clown BD + AnyDVD would result in a 1:1 exact LOSSLESS copy of the blu ray movie (video and audio). But when I read the EACto log for movies using DTS-HD MA, it looks like it lacks the proper decoders and so it defaults to libav and results in something lossy (something less than the full, lossless original DTS-HD soundtrack). Log file is here. I highlighted in blue the lines that give me concern. Can someone explain what I'm seeing?

Hey guys, just in a pickle here!

Trying to backup wall-e on blu ray, obivously using clown bd.

Everything completes correctly and the movie plays beautifully in English no subtitles, just how I requested. However around 37 minutes in when wall-e docks into the airstation, we are presented with M-O the robot that loves cleaning, as he scans EVE and Wall-e the text reads "onbekende verontreinigde" where it should read "foreign contaminant". Unfortunately I cannot see anyway of changing this in clown bd, again no subtitles have been selected or are present (e.g when the captain is speaking). Using powerdvd shows everything correctly.

My underlying thought is that there is the audio, subtitles and a 3rd option "Overlay language" if you like that affects what language is shown when you see the robot's HUD. This is not being flagged in clown bd.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Hi
It looks like you have chosen the wrong MPLS file. The film has country specific small parts, i.e. the film is made from large m2ts files and small country specific m2ts files.

This recipie is of course in the MPLS file you choose. Im sure it is NOT a subtitle or any overlay problem. I cant remember what the MPLS file number is for English parts but if I remember 800 rings a bell. I will check for you.

Thanks for the fast reply, that sounds likely! Is there any way of specifying to clown bd which mpls file you want whilst retaining the 1080p and 5.1 that I have previously ripped with?

Also when clown bd prompts you to select the mpls I have chosen the top 3 now which are the largest ones. But there are many more, so unless I know which number how do you which one is the right one?

Thanks so much

You should preview the differences in the MPLS your favourite software player. Clown_BD BD Copier can help you here.

Thanks seems so obvious now!

I will look for 800, otherwise I will find it and report it back here for future users. Thanks for a great product and even better community.

Oh could anyone tell me what the numbers mean (0+56+3+34) under the mpls file name. Is it the file number of the m2ts?

Cheers

yes, that't the m2ts file names that you find in BDMV\STREAM\ folder.

Hi

It looks like you need MPLS 00081

Clown BD with 3D bluray : movie only

Hello Mike,

I was trying to backup a 3D bluray (movie only) for the kids using clown_BD and there seems to be impossible to keep the 3D extension of MPEG4-MVC (in order to get the same 3D picture but only one language track on a BDR-25 media).

Are you planning to release another version of this usefull utility and add this feature ? That would be very nice :agree:

John

Sorry, not that's not possible. As far as I know there is no software that can do this either. You need to do an ISO 1:1 copy for 3d.

Thanks for the fast reply Mike,

Can you elaborate what are the technical reasons that makes this impossible today ?
It is also strange that we can find (i.e. Cars2.ISO) movie(s) only on the internet newsgroups that do not have any menu ...

I think you'll find there is no way to build a 3d ISO with the free tools that are on the market. The content of the STREAM folders & SSIF files seem to be interleaved at file level. That's why a 3d 50gb optical disk is approx 70gb when saved onto your hard drive.

I see Mike,

FYI, here is the informations collected with DVDFab software about the data structures of the "Cars2.ISO" movie only.

subtitles not listed

I've come across a strange Blu-ray disc (Julia's Eyes) that when playing on computer with
TMT I see 4 subtitles and can easily switch between them.
Using AnyDVD and then Clown BD to get a movie only the subs isn't listed and doesn't show up.
Also tried a run through with BD Rebuilder and no luck.
The subs isn't listed anywhere, neither in BDInfo.
This not a big issue, just curious where can the subs be hiding?
Any ideas?

Problem solved... sort of.

Please post a log file from AnyDVD an I'll see if I can help.

Is it just me or does selecting subtitles from an HD-DVD when converting an HD-DVD to Blu-Ray cause ClownBD to error out the conversion so nothing gets converted.

I am guessing this is because HD-DVD subtitles are not supported by Blu-ray?

If so is there a way you could auto disable subtitle selection when converting an HD-DVD to Blu-Ray.

Or exponentially better suggestion, offer a way to convert HD-DVD subtitles to Blu-ray during the conversion process.

It might just be a particular title. I converted all my hhdvds with subs.

It has happened on a few HD-DVD's.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Midnight Run
Casino
Goodfellas

Were the most recent I tried it occurred on

If its not working what would you suggest for me to do to fix it?
