List of UHDs currently UN-supported in AnyDVD

I tried scanning Murder on the Orient Express and get the following message:
LABEL: MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS
Status: ERROR: INVALID MEDIA
{Will not be added to scan report}

AnyDVD recognized the disc as a UHD movie and gave an error message popup stating unable to read disc. Can someone help point me in the right direction with getting this resolved? Any help would be appreciated.

Most likely your Makemkv version is too old. Please run it with this disc and post the status window it shows or update it if too old and then try again.

Your installed MakeMKV version is outdated, when Anydvd detects it installed it automatically uses it. Oh and you need to set your drive hardware region too if you use DVD's in order to avoid DVD CSS decryption related issues as much as possible.

I've often wondered the same thing myself.

As already stated, all we as end-users know is that UHD support comes when a key is added in the online database, or is supposed to at least.

We don't know how the keys are generated, but no it has nothing to do with the Scanner.

Probably proprietary information, so doubt we'll ever know that.

Duke, logfiles are generally not allowed on the thread, as explained in post #1 (under "Thread rules"), but I can see why you added it - seeking help with what you thought was a Scanner issue.

Looks like the root cause of the problem is known now, but if any further trouble-shooting is needed for this, please open up a separate thread to investigate it...

I thought the Scanner tells you if you have the wrong version of AnyDVD or makeMKV installed - but apparently I'm mistaken there.

But just for reference, post #1 mentions the minimum version for both (under "Recent Bulletins").

I have a min version check for AnyDVD. I can't check every possible combination of stuff on a user's machine. I leave that for AnyDVD to deal with. Users should solve AnyDVD problems before running the scanner.

Totally agree with that.

I thought you mentioned that the Scanner checks all 3 versions (Scanner, AnyDVD, makeMKV) but as I said I guess I'm misremembering.

Not saying it should check makeMKV (that really is kinda AnyDVD's purview) --but the Scanner error of "Invalid Media" is misleading.

Nope, I do absolutely nothing with MakeMKV in the scanner. AnyDVD has internal checks which is what tripped.

I disagree. AnyDVD didn't successfully process the disc and by definition that leads to an invalid media. Your definition of "invalid media" is when someone tries to scan a blu-ray or some other non-UHD disc but the reality is that a UHD that fails to process with AnyDVD is also equally invalid.

On a blu-ray media. Which is the point. Nowhere in that report does it say it's a UHD which is why the scanner reports it as an invalid media. Working as designed.

Name me 1 single standard BD that has a capacity of 60GB :p, obviously an UHD. I don't know if AnyDVD makes a distintion in the "Current profile:" line for UHD BD or standard BD. Don't have any uhd titles
 
Yea, and the scanner doesn't care. That's my point exactly. What AnyDVD reports is what it goes by. That's what I've been saying. If AnyDVD has issues, the scanner's job is not to try to determine that it's somehow wrong. All AnyDVD issues need to be resolved BEFORE running the scanner.

The 1961 version of West Side Story has not yet been released on UHD in any territory. Safe to assume this is 2021.
