Again, totally agree.

But what's wrong with conveying AnyDVD's report of "Incompatible LibreDrive" via the Scanner error message rather than "Invalid Media".

It seems to be available to the Scanner and is a more accurate error message for that scenario.

You know, just in case the end-user believes his AnyDVD set up is as it should be...


Even if it's also a Blu-Ray by chance, it's the LibreDrive issue that's would be the most important to be resolved...

I suppose I can repeat myself yet again, but it will be the last time I say this. I do not do anything with MakeMKV. "But that message is coming from AnyDVD" is not going to convince me that the scanner is responsible for it. The user can just as easily open the status window of AnyDVD to find out why *ALL DISCS ARE NOT WORKING*. This isn't some isolated issue with one disc. It's going to happen with them all. I'm not going down the rabbit hole of reporting every possible configuration issue with AnyDVD from the scanner. That is WAY beyond scope creep. The fact that it's available from AnyDVD makes absolutely zero difference to me. It has all kinds of error messages that I don't report in the scanner, from the OPD being down to network connections with the OPD. I'm not making an exception for this one "special case".

In case anyone was curious about different OPDs for different sub-versions of this, I can report that the limited edition Walmart exclusive version uses the same OPD as the limited edition Best Buy steelbook exclusive version above. There is a second OPD listed for this on page 1 not sure if that is from the limited edition Target Exclusive or the regular version. Maybe this time they just made one OPD for all the exclusives and then another for the regular.

As already stated, all we as end-users know is that UHD support comes when a key is added in the online database, or is supposed to at least.

We don't know how the keys are generated, but no it has nothing to do with the Scanner.

Probably proprietary information, so doubt we'll ever know that.




Duke, logfiles are generally not allowed on the thread, as explained in post #1 (under "Thread rules"), but I can see why you added it - seeking help with what you thought was a Scanner issue.

Looks like the root cause of the problem is known now, but if any further trouble-shooting is needed for this, please open up a separate thread to investigate it...

I thought the Scanner tells you if you have the wrong version of AnyDVD or makeMKV installed - but apparently I'm mistaken there.

Hi Everyone,
Sorry about the logfile rule. Please forgive me.

I'm not sure if someone behind the scenes fixed the cause of my issue or not, but I was able to use AnyDVD to create a complete image of my Murder on the Orient Express UHD disc. There was earlier talk of makeMKV that prompted me to download that software. It was afterwards that I was able to make an image of the disc. Not sure if it was someone that applied a fix or it was the installation of makeMKV that somehow got it to work. Either way, the discussion/feedback helped solve my issue.

Yes, that someone was you! LOL!

What AnyDVD was complaining about was not being able to use LibreDrive.

Your installation of the (presumably) newest version of makeMKV, which is what's used for LibreDrive, very likely took care of that.

Scanner picked up last used ISO from last session (at least according to to Text, I press on Scan and nothing gets mounted). So a little thing to fix when you have time. I had to reselect the ISO.

I need a lot more information than that. Obviously I use it all the time and have not run into any issues like that. So I'd need exact steps to reproduce. What you have here I do every time I run the scanner.
 
Opened scanner from saved zip which extracts it to temp folder.
Opened ISO open dialogue and then cancelled it as soon I saw the ISO is loaded according to the short log.
Pressed on Scan and nothing happened.

Yea don't do that. Once you cancel it removes the selection but doesn't update the status window text. I'm not terribly concerned about that issue as you really shouldn't do that. I'll think about how I want to handle that scenario. But yea, that's firmly in the "don't do that" category. Had you exited the scanner and reopened it after doing the cancel it'd work fine most likely. I'll look at the code but I'm not going to release a new version just for this issue. It'll be fixed, however I decide to handle it, when the next version is released.
