Wow, that's a pretty old movie to have made its way onto UHD!

If they can make a decent 4K release out of a movie made that far back, maybe one day they will go a little farther and offer movies like the original King Kong (1933) and Gone with the Wind (1939) on 4K.

I'd surely purchase both!

if you're going to play UHD's in AnyDVD you should ensure a value is assigned to the AnyDVD setting Video Blu-Ray -> UHD -> Key search method.

As it is now with that not being set, AnyDVD won't use the keyfile when searching for UHD keys not in the OPD.

Minimally it should be set to the default value of "Search all UHD keys".



Be on the lookout for an automatic notification when there's a key available for True Lies in the public keyfile.


At that time, download the latest keyfile version and run your title through the Scanner again to confirm support -- and paste that final Scanner report here.

Casablanca from '42 is on UHD and it looks fantastic. Same with Wizard of Oz and Mr Smith Goes To Washington from '39. Universal has also done other of the really old monster movies on UHD like Dracula with Bela Lugosi from '31.

But, yeah, the original King Kong would be cool if released by Warner Bros. since they've done other really old catalog stuff like the aforementioned Casablanca.

I certainly would.


King Kong is in my wheelhouse as a Sci-Fi nut.

I still wonder at how good the special effects were for back then.

I mean, today we know the tricks, yet you still get immersed in the story and forget they're effects.


Gone With the Wind, not in my wheelhouse so much, at least as far as the story goes.

But what I enjoy about it is it's a visual feast.

So a good 4k transfer should look outstanding!

Looked this up and seems like there was a 9-disc UHD set released with those classic Universal monsters.

I believe this will be my next box-set purchase. :p
