Guide for unprotected Blu-ray ISO for PowerDVD

Sorry to disapoint you but i find out one programm that plays a complete blu-ray structure and menu WITHOUT make it iso or mount it to virtual drive.
The program is "total media theatre 3" try it.

We already know that, but this is a thread for PDVD not TMT

Has anyone removed any audio/video streams and still kept the excellent compatibility of this back up method?

Any rules to follow if so? i.e. don't remove anything before the menu.

I do not have anything to test on besides a PS3 and I don't want to start making a bunch of downsized copies that may be incompatible in the future.

Works 100%

Until this thread, my rips sometimes would be missingthe JAR and META folders... IT WAS DRVING ME INSANE!!!!

:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Thank you for returning my confidence that I am NOT crazy. This was spot on. I have fixed 100% of all my NON working ISOs from playing back in PowerDVD 9

Again, terrific post! :rock:

So, having read much of what comes before, I'm wondering if it's possible to make an iso of a BD leaving protection intact such that it will play in PowerDVD.

I did this but PowerDVD just keeps saying it's a disc with an unsupported format. :bang:

You need to have AnyDVD running in the background.

Whoa. Ok what exactly are you trying to accomplish here? Yes for blu ray discs it has to be set to UDF 2.5 format. The rest is a little harder to understand. And don't worry you're not getting on our "nevers". ;)

I'm new to this game. Thus I'm still a "fish out of water" and hope everyone can tolerate my naïvety. Bear with me.

I have followed your instructions to the letter (so I think) and am still unable to produce a BD-R movie capable of playback on my PS3 unit. I have taken a few different approaches using your guide as reference. They are as follows;

1. Using AnyDVD, I would 'Rip to HardDisk', as instructed, producing the the Blu-ray files on my HDD. Here is the info from my effort to rip 'The Book of Eli' using AnyDVD;

Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 6.6.8.0)
HP BDBDH8E2L 8HD9 2009/12/30 17:32
Drive (Hardware) Region: 0 (not set!)

Media is a Blu-Ray disc.

Total size: 9842816 sectors (19224 MBytes)
Video Blu-ray label: THE_BOOK_OF_ELI
Media is AACS protected!
AACS MKB version 16
Removed AACS copy protection!
Note: automatic detection of region code not possible with this disc.
Blu-ray disc Region set to A!
Possible Blu-ray Java region lock removed!
Blu-ray Java signatures fixed!
BD-Live deactivated!
Removed UOPs!

2. After closing AnyDVD, I opened ImgBurn and tried the following approaches (I changed the file system to UDF 2.5 and the label name to 'THE BOOK OF ELI' in each instance);

A. Using the option 'Write files/folders to Disc'. I don't know if this was incorrect, but I tried it anyways. Here's the log;

Document1.jpg

B. I also attempted to do the following using ImgBurn.

'Create image file from files/folders' (image ripped to HDD) --->

Then, using the newly created image file, I would 'Write image file to Disc'.

Here is the log file;

Please let me know what I'm doing wrong or what else I'm missing. I've used 3 types of discs, a 25GB & 50GB BD-R and a 25GB BD-RE. All have failed.

Nothing happens when attempting to play the discs on my PS3. After loading the disc, the PS3 'clock' at the top right of the screen starts to read the disc but it freezes after roughly 5 seconds and the console appears to quit trying to read it.

Every iso/image file (mounted using Virtual Clone Drive) & disc that I have burned plays successfully on my computer using PowerDVD 9.0.2919.52.

PS3 has current firmware, version 3.41 & purchaed blu-rays play without problem. So I assume it isn't a PS3 hardware issue.

Thanks in advance for any help. I really need it.:doh:

first order of business would be to tell you that the guide in the first post is WAAAAAAAAAAY outdated and no longer relevant.

The easiest way to backup a blu-ray 1:1 is Rip to Iso with the AnyDVD ripper and burn the ISO with IMGBurn.
If the source blu-ray is a double layer disc and you wish to back it up to a single layer disc then free software like BD-Rebuilder can shrinkt it down at virtually no quality loss.

Second order of business, what's the media brand you use for your blanks ?

Ripping to iso with anyDVD and burning to disc was the first method I tried before reading the aforementioned guide. Neither The Book of Eli or The Box blu-ray's were over 23GB so I used my single layer 25GB BD-R since they didn't need to be compressed or cut down to size.

My media goes as follows;

25GB BD-R Ridata
50GB BD-R TDK
50GB BD-RE Sony

Both of those discs are bigger than 25GB on the original disc, so I can only assume you're doing something to them before trying to burn them.

ridata, TDK, sony. All crappy media. Switch to verbatim

Never really had any issues with Sony or TDK myself, whereas Verbatims ha been very flaky

would avatar which is 44Gb look almost the same shrunk down to fit on a single disc?

Hi all! I'm new to this forum and I bought a lifetime licence for AnyDVD HD about a month ago.
My friend Adbear I must give you GREAT thanks for your guide!I use it with my Blu-rays backup!But now I'm encountering a problem towards the backup of
Blu-ray 3D discs.
Is there a similar guide for Blu-ray 3D discs,with this guide for Blu-ray??
I want to make a copy of "A Christmas Carol" Blu-ray 3D in a way that the disc I will burn to be compliant with standalone (consumer) Blu-ray 3D players.

I mention that If a select "Rip to Harddisc" on a Blu-ray 3D then the folder of the Blu-ray 3D becomes to take about 80 GB (twice of the original) space.
If I select "Rip to ISO" and then burn the ISO to a BD-R or BD-RE, will the disc be compliant with standalone Blu-ray 3D players?

What I have to do with 3D Blu-rays???This guide applied to Blu-ray 3D discs?Is there a similar guide for Blu-ray 3D discs??

Thanks in advance for your great work!

I'm looking forward for your opinion friend Adbear!

Friendly,
Manos.

Just use AnyDVD to rip to ISO then burn the ISO to a blank dual layer BD and you're all set. You can't rip to folder as 3D BDs are encoded with a left/right frame, and will take up double the space that it should. And there is no way to compress a 3D BD at the moment.

Great Thanks,but if I follow this process and burn the ISO which I will take from AnyDVD HD to a blank BD-R or to a BD-RE will the final disc be compliant to standalone (consumer) Blu-ray 3D players?
Compliance with standalone Blu-ray 3D players, is the main issue that i have??
Will be compliant with ripping to ISO and then burning the ISO to a blank BD-R??

Great Thanks!!
