List of UHDs currently UN-supported in AnyDVD

Yes, this is the scenario I was describing.

Ok.

AnyDVD tried unit keys from the keydb until it found one which produced something reasonable.

Maybe.

It's also possible someone generated their own key to match this title and used it with AnyDVD locally.

In which case, the key would have been uploaded to the OPD.

Then when Kaiserbock played it, the key was retrieved from there.

But hadn't been uploaded to the public keyfile.

In fact, this is the most probable scenario as it looks like he didn't update his keyfile between the time he submitted the title to the List and when he found it was supported!

So if it was a matter of AnyDVD using a non-matching unit key in the keyfile, the title would have worked on first pass...

Just to be clear, I’m aware that both have the same keys but the distinction is the additional mapping between disc ID values and keys which is occasionally produced by AnyDVD.

Gotcha.

My suggestion was it would be nice if AnyDVD shared the disc ID to unit key mappings which it identified in this circumstance. AnyDVD wouldn’t be adding new keys to the keydb, I think we all understand that keys only move in one direction between AnyDVD and the keydb…

I see.

What would be the method of sharing you were thinking about?

T

...changing the Keyfile search method won't help Godzilla right now because the key's not in the keyfile

I should be more specific here.

I made this statement in relation to Kaiserbock's situation because he had already run his title through the Scanner and it came up unsupported.

The Scanner casts the widest key search net possible when it checks, so no change in his personal Key search setting would give a different result from the same keyfile.

But, in general, when checking support outside Scanner use, yes using a more inclusive key search method could find a match in the same keyfile.

For example changing from "Only matching hash" (not a good idea anyway) to "Search all UHD keys" might be more successful.

Or from any setting to "Search all keys (slow)", the widest search.

No key in the keyfile yet now Supported.

Ok, well congrats KaiserBock!

I guess the key will eventually be uploaded to the keyfile.

FYI --

Kaiserbock's key for...

Godzilla (1998) -- OPD: (Germany) BD_20b81a28653c

... just appeared in the public keyfile.

We don't need it in AnyDVD as it's already supported and in the OPD -- but good to see it's available now for the wider keyfile community!

... you'll see a key has been uploaded for Memories of a Murder. That report can be ignored.

Ok, I'll work around this one.

Thanks.

Also, next time there is a report to process, I'll add "Korea" in the Country dropdown list. :=)

EDIT: Ok, I see the key for it now in the keyfile. Good deal!

It is nice to see this particular disc has been added to the keydb. But the corresponding unit key (0x3481...) is shared with another Godzilla disc which has been in the keydb since October 28 2023. I'm not too sure why it wasn't originally picked up by AnyDVD when it iterated through the keydb.

Especially since the scanner sets the search mode to the most aggressive while scanning discs. That seems problematic.

Good question.

Only thing that comes to my mind is that the local file AnyDVD is pointing to here is not populated from the public keyfile.

@paco ono has reported that the following title is now supported:

Scarlet Street (1945) -- OPD: BD_04bda7ecf8f0

The List is modified.

Hi, Rob!

Thanks for including the Year on this one.

Added to the List.

Looks like you have the UHD Key Search "un-setting" problem a few of us have experienced.

Yours seems to be un-set right now...

.... if you're going to play UHD's in AnyDVD you should assign a value to the AnyDVD setting Video Blu-Ray -> UHD -> Key search method.

As it is now with that not being set, AnyDVD won't use the keyfile when searching for UHD keys not in the OPD.

Minimally it should be set to the default value of "Search all UHD keys".

(Note: When fixed, it won't change Child's Play's Support Status, there's no key for it in the keyfile right now.)

List revised.

Right.

Rob,

(a) It doesn't look like that setting has been made even now!

And (b), as I said in the post above, even when you make it, the title will still be unsupported.

There's no exact key match in the keyfile for your Child's Play at this time, or the Scan Reader would have picked that up and not processed your List submission.

It's true that AnyDVD can sometime use a key in the file that isn't an exact match, but if that was the case, the Scanner would've found the key when you made the report.

When it runs, it directs AnyDVD to do the widest key search possible -- meaning try all keys in the file.

It does that independent of your personal Key Search setting...

So no, nothing will change for Child's Play yet, but you want keyfile use to be activated via that Setting for AnyDVD UHD play in general.
