In my opinion, this boxset was the only thing interesting released this week.

All 3 now have keys in the public keyfile, so bypassed adding them to the List.

i had 2 titles showing as not supported on anydvdhd
the usual cannot process etc so ive been waiting for the updates

they were expendables 4 and superman 2 richard donner cut so i thought i would do a log file

downloaded scanner and when installed downloaded the updated keydb and said both were supported

now both versions are supported on anydvd

shouldnt the new version of anydvd include the new keydb or have these 2 titles just been missed

its was only these 2 all the other new titles work

No. While AnyDVD can use the KeyDB, it does NOT include it. End users are responsible for maintaining it themselves. That's why I wrote the new KeyDB Tools application. You can find it in the Third Party forum. It will sync your KeyDB to keep it up to date.

It does now. You can delete the keydb file and try again, AnyDVD should know it now.

Yes but we're talking about two different things here. AnyDVD only "knows" about discs after they've been pulled from the KeyDB.cfg file. And that file isn't included. AFTER AnyDVD has validated the key(s) for a title, then it's "known" to AnyDVD going forward, even without the KeyDB.cfg file. I want people to understand the difference because AnyDVD has to first see the disc with the KeyDB for it to cache the keys.
 
i always thought anydvd was updated by the opd which is why it needed a internet connect after version 8
and i thought the keys were in the program and that updated it. even though i download the blu ray protection database a while back i should have known LOL

but now i konw about KeyDB Tools application i will get that

It's different for blu-ray vs UHD. Blu-ray gets the latest cached keys when you update AnyDVD. UHD is always OPD only. But when there's a UHD AnyDVD doesn't have keys for, and you scan the disc with the KeyDB enabled in AnyDVD, if it validates the key works, it'll then cache those keys to the OPD. Then anyone else with that disc will benefit even if they don't have the KeyDB enabled. But someone has to "go first" and scan the disc with the KeyDB so AnyDVD can pick it up. After that, everyone's golden.

col46, you got some good answers for this....

To summarize, what seems to have happened here is:


The first time you mounted those two titles in AnyDVD without use of the keyfile.

So AnyDVD searched the OPD, did not find that particular version of the titles there, and stated they were Unsupported.


The second time, when you downloaded the keyfile and re-scanned in AnyDVD via the Scanner, AnyDVD grabbed the keys from the keyfile, validated them and added them to the OPD.

Going forward these titles are now "officially" supported because they now have keys in the OPD, and anyone can play them -- using a keyfile or not.


So it was you who added support - LOL.



This is the reason when titles are added to the UN-supported List and a key appears in the keyfile, a final Scanner report is requested.

It's not quite enough to say the title is supported just because in the keyfile... one more step is needed, and that's for AnyDVD to actually scan the title again and move the key into the OPD.

Which the final Scanner report is proof of.

Now it's "official".


(And yeah UHD support only comes from keys in the OPD, are not included in releases like Blu-Ray is).

so for anyone else if you need to update the keydb, just run anydvd scanner and press keydb and it will update anydvd

i know it obvious now but i did not know this and ive been using anydvd since it came out 😀
