Apple TV and AC3 I can use VOB passthrough in DVD mobile to retain 5.1 audio but iTunes won't allow VOB files. Are you using something other than iTunes to send the VOB file to the Apple TV?

Unless I missed something in your earlier posts, are you using clone dvd mobile to make vob's? If you're using clone dvd 2 (not mobile) to make iso's, don't forget that the WDTV can't play iso's under 30 minutes.

It also took me a while experimenting what works and doesn't work with the wdtv. Until western digital decides to add some sort of dvd menu functionality to their firmware, you will still need to use vob passthrough for video content 30 minutes and under and iso's for video content over 30...

The wdtv is quite small but it does need a portable usb storage device. The storage device just contains your video files. You still need your computer to make or assemble your video files and save them to the storage device you will use with the wdtv.

The wdtv allows thumbnails/movie art and works with iso's but the thumbnail/movie art only shows up on your tv/monitor that the wdtv is connected to. The wdtv also requires a seperate usb storage device.

I have an ipod classic with 80 gb and ipod touch with 32gb. I use the "ipod video 5. gen (hires)" setting in dvd mobile for the ipod classic and it also works on the "ipod touch".

I am not sure about the true hd. I would assume that if you have true hd on the video file that the wdtv is playing and you have an audio receiver that can decode that, it seems it should work. I do think it would not down-code as you say to a dolby format. I have not had any issues with iso...

I tried the arcsoft that came with the wdtv and my opinion clone cd, clone dvd mobile and clone dvd really surpass the arcsoft. You just have to experiment a little and see what works best for you. I use clone dvd mobile for vob files and clone cd and clone dvd for iso files.

If you go to western digital's web site, click on support and then downloads and find the firmware update for the wdtv if you haven't tried that already. The new firmware version was supposed to fix recognizing drives larger than 500 gb.

I gave clone cd a try using the iso ouput on regular dvd's and seems to work pretty good. The subtitles are there along with the multiple audio tracks. Haven't made the leap to bluray yet.

Thanks cosmac, that solved my problem. I was trying different formats for use with the wdtv media player and made an mp4 using the ps3 mode with 3 passes. You are right, when you try to use vob passthrough it did 3 passes and dvd mobile crashed at 99% finished (on the third pass). Thanks!!!
