Hi newbie here.

last night I just got a NO DRIVE DETECTED ERROR MSG while trying to backup a movie that I purchased. I've been using AnyDVD for awhile and up to Thursday night everything was fine. The msg said:

Possible reasons:
1. You don't have have a dvd drive, buy one.
2. You haven't rebooted your system after AnyDVD has been installed. Please
restart your computer.
3. Your external DVD drive is not powered on or is not properly connected.
4. There is a problem initializing the AnyDVD driver. If this is the case, try
this: Unistall AnyDVD, reboot. Install AnyDVD, reboot.

I don't use an external DVD and I've already installed/re-installed AnyDVD a few times. I was using version 6.5 5.9 but have upgraded to 6.5 6.2 but still get the same error msg. I also had a Sonic software but I have since uninstalled it. When I checked the Device Manager, there is a yellow exclamation point on the DVD burner, Pioneer DVR 109. I tried using the troubleshooter but that didnt help. I am also unable to burn any thing off of my HD using IMGburn. I'm thinking that my DVD burner crapped out and need to purchase a new one. Does anyone have any ideas what could possibly be wrong? Thanks and sorry for the long message.

If the driver is hosed for the DVD drive then Windows will have a problem, period.

Please do the following:

  1. Download ImgBurn (freeware): http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
  2. Install it.
  3. Start ImgBurn.
  4. From the toolbar select Tools.
  5. Select Filter Driver Load Order.
  6. Click on the Copy to Clipboard button.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Exit ImgBurn.
  10. Post a reply here and paste the information into your post.

Refer here: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=1559

Post the information from Item 4 in a reply. Check out items 2 & 3.

O.k., this isn't actually an Anydvd issue.

It's a problem between windows and your drive.

In device manager, delete the entry for the Pioneer dvr-109. Then reboot. If that doesn't fix your issue, take a good long hard look at step 3 from http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=1559

DrinkLyeAndDie, Thanks but where do I find this information once I click "copy of clipboard"? Sorry if its a dumb question.

Open Notepad and paste it. Or paste it into a reply.

Thank you. I hope this is what you're referring to.

While AFC should be removed using imgburn, removing it will not fix the yellow exclamation mark in device manager, which is the real problem.

Again, @hayechiburu, in device manager, delete the entry for the Pioneer dvr-109. Then reboot. If that doesn't fix your issue, take a good long hard look at step 3 from http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=1559

I would follow Webslinger's instructions and I would remove the Afc.sys filter, as well. That is installed by either an Arcsoft product or a program that makes use of the filter. At present Webslinger's instructions are more important.

Refer here for a list of known problematic filters: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=15536.

Remove the filter:

  1. Create a backup of your registry. Refer here for how to do so: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756
  2. Download ImgBurn (freeware) here: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download.
  3. Start ImgBurn and go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order....
  4. Select "Afc". Click Remove Selected Filter. Click OK.
  5. Reboot

Whatever programs installed the filters may no longer work properly. Reinstall the piece of software that originally installed the filter to get things working again if necessary.

Webslinger, I don't have the option of deleting that entry. I can disable or uninstall it. I was just about to try step #3 from the link you provided. Thank you

Yeah, and if you select the drive in device manager and press the delete key, what happens?

Anyway, delete = uninstall

Uninstall and reboot.

DrinkLyeAndDie, I already have IMGburn on my PC. Should I uninstall and reinstall or just use the existing IMGburn? Thanks for your feedback

Webslinger, I uninstalled it & rebooted but my pc "found new hardware". I still get the same error msg. In the device manager, under the Pioneer entry,Device status read: Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

Not sure if this helps. I'm going to try step #3 now. Will keep you folks posted. Thanks again.

Okay so I tried step #3 but I have 2 different controllers from the guide:

Intel(R) 82801 FB ultra ATA storage controllers-2651

Intel(R) 82801 FB/FBM ultra ATA storage controllers-266F

Should I update the drivers for both?

No. Leave those alone.

O.k., that error message helps. Did you uninstall something recently? Your filter stack is messed up.

Edit: Do what James says.

Yes, I deleted the Sonic software that was preloaded onto my PC when I bought it. I read the FAQs and it mentioned something about Sonic software being bad for AnyDVD. Besides that Sonic software was giving me problems before this happened.
