[Resolved] CloneDVD hangs, Option write data

Verbatim blanks
i use 4x write speed

Don't. Use an 8x write speed with 16x rated blank media.

You would be better off buying 8x rated blank media, since your drive has a max write speed of 8x.
Firmware support may be better for 8x rated blank media.

Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500S ATA device

That's not an ATA device. The "S" on BC-5500S denotes "Sata".

It's a Slimeline Sata drive: http://www.sonynec-optiarc.com/products/slim_dbcombo/index.html
Because this drive was issued to you by HP, HP is responsible for providing customers with firmware updates for that drive.

You have nvstor.sys loaded, and that driver is used for nvidia sata controllers, which doesn't make any sense if you're using an intel based motherboard. So either something is really messed up with drivers on your end, you actually have a nvidia based motherboard (and are supplying the wrong info about your motherboard), or there's a potential virus on your laptop.

HP says there is no firmware available.
About the nvstor.sys, they don't know what to do.
i've scanned the lap; no viruses at all.
Now I write dvd-data with VSO CopytoDVD, no problems but i prefer CloneDVD.:bang:
PS : i installed Nero but it also hangs when writing ......

Given that you have two applications hang while writing, there's something pretty wrong on your system.

1) Go into device manager.
Expand the "dvd/cd-rom drives" branch.
Expand "storage controllers".
Expand "system devices".
Maximize your device manager window.
Post a screenshot.

2. Under the "dvd/cd-rom drives" branch,
right click on "BC-5500S".
Select "properties"
Select the "driver" tab.
a)Post a screenshot
b) Under the "details" tab, select "provider" for property. Tell
me what it says.

I really shouldn't have to be doing this. This is HP's responsibility.

Web, I very much appreciate your help dude !!!
1 : dvd and storage (= Microsoft iSCSI initiator)
2 : system devices
3 : details of the dvd; provider = Microsoft
drivers = AnyDVD.sys, ElbyCDFL.sys, cdrom.sys and GEARAspiWDM.sys

Okay, that all looks normal.

But that nvidia sata controller driver should not be running on your system. It doesn't make any sense why it's there, and it could be causing problems.

with taskmanager in processen there is nothing.
Can I get rid of it? Yes, how? will it harm my system?

I really don't know what to advise you here, as I don't know your system. Ask HP if you should remove it, and ask them how you should remove it.

I'm sorry, but I have nothing else to advise at this point.

ok Web. Thanks for the great help anyway ...
Can someone provide me of the Write.dll version BEFORE 2662?
I would like to test it again with the original dll.

I'm glad you found a work around despite both Clonedvd and Nero not burning for you. Very strange

installed Vista SP 2 and CloneDVD "burns" like a charm !!!
fingers crossed for the future !

installed Nero and works also !
seems like SP2 solved my problems !
