Not a RedFox Issue Rakuten

I don't have any firewalls, antivirus, VPN etc. installed. Only native Windows firewall. To check if the problem is exclusive to my home computer, I just installed AS 1.3.2.7 on my friend's computer. Another computer, other installed programs (Kaspersky Internet Security), another ISP. But the problem is the same! Unable to login to Rakuten. Perhaps I am the only person in Poland who uses AS, since no one else is reporting a problem.

Do you have a smartphone, preferably a Samsung?
Could you try to login to rakuten on the smartphone?

I'm asking, because I got a message, that a new device logged in to my rakuten account:
Gerätetyp: Android TV
Marke: samsung
Modell: SM-G981U
Land: Germany

So Anystream seems to mimic a Samsung Galaxy S20 against rakuten...
Might be something with that combination... not sure, just guessing here.

Thank you for your response. Interesting discovery.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 smartphone (old model but still works fine and I like it).
So far I haven't used Rakuten TV on it, but after your post I launched Play Store and installed the Rakuten TV app.
Works fine, I can log into my Rakuten account. I received an email that a new device was logged in to my account:
Typ urządzenia: Android
Marka: samsung
Model: SM-N910F
Państwo: Poland

It follows that in Poland I can log in to Rakuten on a mobile device (and in the browser and Smart TV, as I already wrote). Only the AS is the problem.

Can you post a screenshot of what happens when you try to log in?

Every time I click on the Rakuten TV tab, I get the AnyStream message: "Provider setup failed".
I can only click OK, then the AS window remains blank. After the F5 screen is refreshed, the message reappears: "Provider setup failed".

Rakuten will only work in Europe, it will not work with VPNs, I am looking into why fikander is having issues in Poland. But this is not for our USA customers or our S.American customers, just European customers, again, VPN is all blocked from this provider.

Hi there, I´m also having the same issues with Rakuten, when opening - Provider setup failed, also in log a message that Rakuten is not available in my country, while it works on other devices...

Anything has changed since the last posts in here? Now working with the latest AnyStream Pro version...

Can you post a log file, I cannot access Rakuten from my location.

Hello, thank you for the log file. Your issue is your proxy. Rakuten blocks all proxies and VPNs. I am sorry you are having this issue, but its a known issue.
00:00:04.108 - [Debug] [rakuten] using proxy: Socks5, host: https://rakuten.tv/pl/sessions/sign_in, port 1080
00:00:04.136 - [Debug] [tabs] New provider widget: Rakuten TV

00:00:04.137 - [Notice] [browser:rakuten] Startup provider...

00:00:04.166 - [Error] [rakuten] Failed to retrieve startup data

Not sure, my fault - I tried to use proxy to solve the problem, but it didn't work, I didn't disable it before creating logfile. Please check the updated one.

So actually it should be no VPN nor proxy, Rakuten is also available in PL, where I'm physically logged in.

Hello, thanks again for the update. It seems you are not accessing Rakuten directly. It looks like you are using another service that provides Rakuten.

00:00:03.143 - [Error] [rakuten] Error receiving: 201 (403) Error transferring https://gizmo.rakuten.tv/v3/me/start - server replied: Forbidden, https://gizmo.rakuten.tv/v3/me/start
00:00:03.144 - [Error] [rakuten] {"errors":[{"field":"base","code":"exception.forbidden_market","message":"Rakuten TV nie jest dostępne w Twoim kraju."}]}
00:00:03.144 - [Error] [rakuten] Failed to retrieve startup data

So based on the previous posts - do you think it is related to Rakuten in PL?

I use the site:
Code:
https://rakuten.tv/pl
on my desktop, as well as Rakuten service on LG webOS system, and it works fine, so it seems it's connecting to rakuten though.

I experience issues with the AnyStream access only.

As I said, the log file tells me that Rakuten is forbidding your access. I am in the Caribbean, I cannot access Poland or Rakuten. All I can do is see what your issue is. No one has posted any issues about Rakuten in many months. I can only read the logfile and explain the entries that I see. I am sorry for your issue but there is nothing I can do to help you.

Is there any chance to try bypass the 'gizmo' part of the Rakuten address? Perhaps it makes the system not allowing to access Rakuten in PL.

Well, I believe Rakuten is not much popular in PL, so the users of Rakuten and AnyStream may be also quite limited. I can also see the access permission issue in the log file, what seems strange for me, is that accessing Rakuten with any other means works fine, while the issue of availability problem in my country shows up only when trying to access with AS. This would suggest Rakuten is not expecting PL users while connecting with the original path (gizmo.rakuten.tv), my question is, what if changed (e.g. to rakuten.tv itself).

Not that I know of. Actually, I do not think it can be done, you have to sign up with Rakuten directly.

I have exactly same problem in CZ... Error 403 -
Code:
https://gizmo.rakuten.tv/v3/me/start Forbidden
)
