Use the zoom function on the Touch to remove the black bars - you can't remove them (crop function) completely with CDM. Supposed to be available eventually.

Thanks ProfColli

Autocropping was on the wishlist but has not yet been implemented. Zooming the video is a poor substitute, as you lose a lot of the picture. If you absolutely need to remove the black bars you can do it by running the CDM output through a free tool like AviDemux and using their autocrop feature with "copy" video and audio setting.

A profile was posted by fmcigyp for the HTC Touch which was reported as working OK - why not use that? MP4 is a lot less resource-intensive than x264, and it converts quicker. I doubt you will see a quality difference on a handheld screen.

[Touch HD]
Manufacturer=HTC
useMencoder=1
SubTitle=1
ScreenRatio=15:9
Res1=720x480

If the video lags (stutters), try a lower quality setting (reduces bitrate). If you mean the audio lags behind the video (out of sync), then that is a different problem.

Hi Profcolli,

Could you please post a devices.ini that I could use to create a Nexus One Profile? I currently have AnyDVD (v.6.6.2.6) and CloneDVD mobile (v.1.6.1.0) both installed on an XP Pro SP3 box, and on a Win 7 Enterprise x64bit box.

Thank you :)
Paul

What are the video specs? A working profile was already posted for the Droid, IIRC.

Hi Profcolli,

Thank you so much for your help. Here are the "specs" for the Nexus One:

Graphics, video and audio

Audio decoders
AAC LC/LTP, HE-AACv1 (AAC+), HE-AACv2 (enhanced AAC+) Mono/Stereo standard bit rates up to 160 kbps and sampling rates from 8 to 48 kHz, AMR-NB 4.75 to 12.2 kbps sampled @ 8 kHz, AMR-WB 9 rates from 6.60 kbps to 23.85 kbps sampled @ 16 kHz, MP3 Mono/Stereo 8-320 kbps constant (CBR) or variable bit-rate (VBR), MIDI SMF (Type 0 and 1), DLS Version 1 and 2, XMF/Mobile XMF, RTTTL/RTX, OTA, iMelody, Ogg Vorbis, WAVE (8-bit and 16-bit PCM)

Image
JPEG (encode and decode), GIF, PNG, BMP
Video
H.263 (encode and decode) MPEG-4 SP (encode and decode) H.264 AVC (decode)
Audio encoders
AMR-NB 4.75 to 12.2 kbps sampled @ 8 kHz

* Reference: http://www.google.com/phone/static/en_US-nexusone_tech_specs.html

From what I understand, the screen resolution (and something like 'codecs') are different between the Droid and Nexus One. I have a couple 16 Gb Class 6 MicroSD cards, so space is not an issue (my ignorance is).

Thanks again!

PS. There was a post by "Fernando" (SlySoft Development Team) back on 23rd January 2010, 21:16 which read
The Droid should work with the Nexus One profile, which will be available in the next beta.
.... However, I have the latest versions of the software and still don't see Nexus One in any of the profiles?

Greetings,

I just wanted to post a little update since my last post above. Due to generosity of a very cool senior forum member, I'm now on THE LATEST beta version of CloneDVD Mobile (ver. 1.6.1.8 ).

Try 1.6.1.8 beta. .... I'm not sure if that has been done yet, but this is the newest version.

Unfortunately, it also does not have any HTC Google or otherwise equivalent Nexus One profile.

Best Regards,
Paul

That beta was posted on this forum 13th March.

Did you try the profile posted by fmcigyp for the HTC Touch (quoted a few posts up)? The specs seem to be similar.

Paul,

I too was looking for a HTC Desire profile but could not find any, ultimately I merged the settings from one of the higher quality mp4 profiles with the resolution and aspect ratio of the xbox profile.

Ultimately I ended up with the following profile, which works excellent and I'm very pleased with the results :)

Code:
[Desire (mp4)]
Manufacturer=HTC
useMencoder=1
ScreenRatio=16:9
Res1=640x480
ResAna1=800x480
ResAna2=320x180
AllowNativeTVResolution=1
ARate=48000
SubTitle=1
ABRate=128
Format=lavf
lavfopts=format=mp4
lavcopts=aglobal=1:vglobal=1:vcodec=mpeg4:threads=4:coder=1:acodec=libfaac
FileType=mp4
Quality=16
MaxVBitrate=2000

probably needs a few more tweaks by someone that knows all the settings ;) but it works like a charm as it is 8)

1.7.0.0 is working great. Would someone be kind enough to post a divx format extension with ac3 / dts passthrough that will work with this newer version? It would be greatly appreciated.

i am currently using anydvd and clonedvd2 to back up all my movies to the hard drive in the video_ts format. Is it possible to create a profile to convert my blu-ray discs into a smaller file size while maintaining the video_ts format?

Wow 11 days and no one knows of a format extention for 1.7.0.0 that will pass through dd or dts. Guess my answer is to stick to handbrake. Better for my needs and its free.

I've made a profile that works perfectly with the HTC Desire, the widescreen resolutions in your profile are wrong for the screen size/res of the Desire, see my profile below.

Code:
[Desire]
Manufacturer=HTC
ScreenRatio=5:3
Res1=640x480
ResAna1=800x452
ARate=48000
ABRate=128
Format=lavf
lavfopts=format=mp4
lavcopts=aglobal=1:vglobal=1:vcodec=mpeg4:coder=1:acodec=libfaac
FileType=mp4
Quality=23
useMencoder=1
SubTitle=1
MaxVBitrate=2500

Hope this helps.

I've had an iTouch, and have been using Clonedvd Mobile to convert all my movies onto it. So far, it's worked great. I'm thinking about getting an Iphone now. I made them under the iTouch option instead of iPhone AVC in 426x320, which from what ive read is compatible with iPhone. Will I run into any problems using the iTouch setting on my iPhone? or will i have to re-do them all?

Samsung Galaxy S [Vibrant / Captivate ] Device definition

Here is a device definition I ginned up for the Samsung Galaxy S, known as the Vibrant, Captivate, Fascinate and I9000.

Hope it helps.

Which Forum should I use to ask if anyone has any working mods to devices.ini to support the new Samsung Galaxy Tab? I've reused the "Generic MP4" device, but I'm unable to get a full screen 1024X600.
