I've made note that only the original 2019 release of this UHD is 2.1 in the listing of 2.1 titles in Post #1.

No one fixed it for "8.6.8.0" because UHD support doesn't come in AnyDVD releases.


Not sure what version of this title you have, but I had a US version and put it on the List back on May 16.

It was supported when James did a Key Dump the following day.

Speaking about AnyDVD 8.6.8.0, @SamuriHL , that probably should be the Min AnyDVD release for the Scanner now, if for no other reason than the check for 2.1 titles is back in place...


EDIT: Nevermind, I see it's already changed.

I didn't see the announcement of that.

AnyDVD doesn't have support for UHDs? Errr, huh?

All I know is that the previous version couldn't do anything with my Skyline UHD whereas 8.6.8.0 handled it with no problem. Perhaps there was a refresh of some sort and the keys changed. For reference, this is the 2-disc Scream Factory release with catalog # SF 23587 on the spine.
 
The version of anydvd makes no difference at all for uhd when it comes to keys. The keys are in the online protection database and are downloaded independent of what version of anydvd you're using.

Then something else must've been at play. I verified that the application was working by trying to rip another UHD and it did fine, so it was something particular to that disc.

No, I didn't say AnyDVD doesn't support UHD's.

I said UHD support doesn't come from releases.

UHD support depends solely on the presence of a key in the online database (OPD) as SamuriHL already stated.

That can happen at any time.


Nowadays, the most likely source of the key is the public keyfile.

When a title's key appears there and someone scans the Disc with AnyDVD using the keyfile, it will grab up the key from there and add it to the OPD.

So most likely the key was introduced into the keyfile at some point between your unsuccessful and successful attempt to play it.

Your use of a new release was incidental and not the reason for the title working.


Recommend as James suggested you open up a new thread to look at this if you need more info -- and be sure to post a fresh AnyDVD logfile there.

The source of the key may be hard to identify since the title already works, but there may be more clues in the logfile.

Appreciate the 'assist' by dropping "The" to the end of the Title, navi -- but better to type it in normally ("The Expendables 4 (2023)") and let the Scan Reader do that.

It has a very specific format for that.... for example, the "The" is always moved to the very end, even if the Year is present.

So it's better to let it do the re-formatting.


And thanks for including the Year.

BTW:
... the scan reader doesn't say anything about it. I have to type it in by hand, otherwise I won't get approval to post it. No matter how I do it, it's always not right ;-)
