New forum software Xenforo

I can understand the reasoning behind it but it just doesn't make sense. IF you have the newest first, then you could be reading a response/quote to/of somebody without knowing what/who the response is to. That's just backwards, i've NEVER seen a forum use this kind of navigation. Just doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

This is weird no one reads the forums like this. Hope you switch it back from top to bottom.
Hmmm... not really. in old forum about 70% of users had that feature enabled. Me too.
Disabled this addon for now.

Still fiddeling around

Since this is a general chat I would like to share this recent movie quote from Kingsman:

According to "The Gentleman's Guide" on the film's official website, "The Rules" of a Kingsman Gentleman are as follows: (1) A gentleman never tells about conquests, private matters, or dealings. His business is nobody else's. (2) A gentleman doesn't clash in public with enemies or exes, or worse, with out-of-fashion contrasts, colors or styles. (3) A gentleman is always happy to serve, whether it's opening the door, picking up the bill, or merely calling a cab the next morning. Ask him for help and he cannot refuse. (4) A gentleman never reacts to rudeness. He pretends he doesn't recognize it and moves on like it never happened, because it never should have. (5) A gentleman is always on target with witty remarks, interesting facts, and conversation starters that bring the best out of everyone. And (6) A gentleman asks non-invasive questions to keep a conversation going and attention focused on others. He makes them feel like the most interesting person he's ever met, whether that's true or not.

I just wanted to share that as it is very on spot in general :)
And yes, no problem with comments rated by others and if it's possible you should implement that, Slyfox :)
Hello: That guide is quite a bit to live up to, LOL, and since I am over 70 I really dont think "I'll be calling a cab the next morning" anymore" Ask me for help and I wll never refuse, I can do that LOL. Its my job here on the forum try to keep rudeness down to a serviceable level. My clothing is what it is, short pants, and tee shirts, when you are 73, I do not think a nice tie goes with the territory. I am pretty good with witty remarks also. But even though this is from a movie, if such a person actually exists, I dont know him, and if you run into the guy that picking up the check, send him my way LOL. Good quote by the way.
I will look to see if they have a rating system although I really dont know what good it could possibly do, if you " Like the post" that should be enough. JMHO.

When using my older machines, won't let me locate the cursor in the quick reply box, and if I use "post reply" a dark overlay pops up saying error - no data entered, so basically, I can't post with those machines. Otherwise the older machines work fine with your new software (can read all the posts just fine and appearance is great). Hope you can fix this small issue. Otherwise looks great!

I've added a new style "SlySoft Style" and made it the default style.

It is nor more "darkish-greenish". Hope you like it more. Let me know.

me like, but needs a few tweaks

-- hyperlinks needs a tweak in color. Take a look at that "Slysoft forum Registration" link SlyFox 1 has in his signature, its barely visible against post background. (link itself doesn't work anymore though with the forum software switch)

-- look at forum root https://forum.slysoft.com/ column under the avatar.
Headers such as "management now online", "members now online arent very visible", color is too similar to background (likely tied to the above hyperlink color issue)

-- strip the "new profile reactions" from root. Serves no purpose and it only shows old stuff.

-- as previously said, the new posts "blue dot" needs some viagra or steroids and grow a little in size. Barely visible next to the topic name.

Testing an addon which reverses the sort order of posts to "newest first" - then it makes sense to have the reply box above. Would be perfect, if each one can select this in his account preferences. Still fiddeling...

Heh, you sound like a kid with a new toy. ;)

Getting better and better, more options.

I see you're experimenting with the header's and hyperlinks. You're on the right track but black hyperlinks make it look like ordinary text :). Specifically its the a: visited that needs tweaking :)

Done. Still have some problems in sidebar, search field is out of control and moving down text for 10px.

Tried my best, still playing around...

Thanks Ch3vr0n !

Haven't played with the new forum yet. First thing I saw when I tried to sign in was that I (BZee2) did not exist. The second thing I noticed was that my old posts do not exist. Not a big deal - I just re-registered with my preferred name (It wasn't available before.

before migration, we nuked all accounts where
New forum looks good :)
Suggestions:
Replace the remaining orange(?) title bars/pages numbers/quotes to match the rest.
Change the background of the sticky thread listings so it is easier to distinguish
from the regular threads.

Done.
Sticky color changed and separated.
Headers and sub headers more greenish now.

If you like James Bond movies you will definitely like Kingsman: Secret Service if you haven't seen it yet.
Thanks for that like button! And thanks to Tom who is improving things :).

BTW, I don't think my earlier question was answered. What country is actually hosting the physical forum server hardware now? If you don't mind my asking.

Oh, this is not a big secret. A lookup on forum.slysoft.com gives you the IP 144.76.238.154, which is hosted somewhere in Germany. Server is running on latest Debian with nginx and MariaDB, SSL (https) default. Partitions are encrypted, it needs two admins with key and password to mount the partitions.

where what? :p
argh... pressed 'post' before finished the sentence...

before migration, we nuked all accounts where inactive > 700 days and post count=0.

Tom, I'm liking the changes that you've done to the Slysoft dot com Forum page.

Keep on tweaking what you need to do.
