I tried the following programs on my WINDOWS XP. I was able to back up the other movies and THE EYE is the only one I can't back up i USED,CloneDVD. rip from anyDVD, Xcopy, Nero and even DVDshrink using AnyDVD. Nothing works. Anybody got any ideas? I get errors in every program I have installed on my computer. Anybody else have problems with the movie? I noticed that.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Follow the steps in the order that they are listed:

1. Use Anydvd 6.4.3.8 beta: click http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/SetupAnyDVD6438.exe

You may need to reboot after installing if prompted to do so.

2. Click the red fox icon on your toolbar. Click "default". Click "ok".

3. If you use DVDShrink, Nero Recode, or programs that generally can't handle structural protections, right-click on the fox icon on your toolbar and select "Rip video-dvd to Hard Disk". Choose your source and destination paths. Click "Copy", and wait for Anydvd ripper to finish. You can then import that rip into whatever program you want. This is an important step if the original disc contains structural protection.

You don't need to do this if you own Clonedvd or are planning to make a backup with Clonecd.

4. Use Clonedvd 2.9.1.8 beta: click http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/SetupCloneDVD2918.exe

5. Follow the steps from this link in order: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=476 (follow them step by step)

If you're using +R DL blank discs, I recommend using Clonecd: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=327

6. If you still have problems, then . . .

A)
a) Ensure Anydvd is running.
b) Put the problematic original movie dvd in your burner. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
c) Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
d) Select "Create Logfile"
e) Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
f) A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
g) Go to your My Documents folder
h) You will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f)
i) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
attach.gif
(in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
j) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
k) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
l) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
m) click "upload"
n) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

B) State the full a)error message(s) you encountered (click "details"), b)tell us what program(s) you were using when you received the error message(s), and c) describe in detail what you were doing when you received the error message(s). What problem are you having exactly?

I had no problems with the region 1 V of this disc using AnyDVD 6.4.3.8 and CloneDVD2 2.9.1.8. Maybe you have a poorly stamped disc?

Bad disc........

This is what I got when I scanned THE EYE with the nero dvd reader.

click on the thumbnail to see it in full size.
the red means it's unreadable. UGH.
I didn't even have to scan the whole disk, it's just that little bit there that's unreadable. UGH
so I guess I'm gonna have to exchange the copy I have for another one...DAMN IT.

Do what I wrote please. You've provided no useful troubleshooting information.

And that Nero scan isn't terribly useful with this disc.

I have never attached a zip before and did this logfile thing with anydvd, so if I do somethning wrong forgive me and the logfile gives you all the information that's on my computer I guess. I used the following software to try to back THE EYE.
CloneDVD
AnyDVD
XCopy
ShrinkDVD
Nero
and I even tried to rip it from AnyDVD and it wouldn't work, I got an error message as the same with the nero scan.

In conclusion it's a bad disc. PERIOD.

You know, I don't post instructions to follow for no reason. Why haven't you updated Anydvd as I instructed?

Why haven't you provided a single full error message from Anydvd or Clonedvd?

Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 6.3.0.0)

 Wow.

This time, follow the instructions in the exact order that they are listed in.

1. Use Anydvd 6.4.3.8 beta: click http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/SetupAnyDVD6438.exe

I'm just gonna exchange it for another one and then try it again and if it gives me an error message again, then I'll do what you suggested. It's the only one I have problems backing up.

Wouldn't it be far simpler to update Anydvd and Clonedvd and follow my instructions? :bang:

With a dial-up... it's quicker to exchange a disk!!! :D

(that said I ALWAYS update)

I exchanged the movie and it did it again, so I updated to the latest AnyDVD and it worked fine, but only with CloneDVD of course. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't the movie, sorry it's just the way I am. Thanks for the advice though.

It will work fine with other programs if you do step 3 from my previous reply.
