[Resolved] Same Problem Here

with the exception-made in taiwan(oh no!)

Actually the Sonys that are made in Malaysia would concern me more (if they are made by Daxon).

But now I'm wondering if your single layer blank media isn't the issue.

I just find it very odd that you have no problems burning with double layer blank media.

I'm kinda stumped. :(

Maybe I should order a new Burner?

That wouldn't be a bad idea. They don't cost much. Try www.newegg.com

Hrmmm . . .

I don't know why I didn't notice this before.

It seems to me that shouldn't be listed in your registry's filter stack. What I just quoted was installed with older versions of Clonedvd--but not with newer versions. Maybe that's the problem (I don't know for sure).

1. Uninstall Clonedvd

a) Keep your license key file backed up safely
b) Uninstall Clonedvd (start-->all programs-->Elaborate Bytes--->Clonedvd2-->Uninstall)
c) Reboot

2. Now remove that entry from your registry:

i) Create a backup of your registry: click http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756
ii) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program in my opinion)
iii) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Select "ElbyDelay". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Click "ok".
iv) Reboot

3. Now Install Clonedvd 2.9.2.2

a) Download Clonedvd http://static.slysoft.com/SetupCloneDVD.exe
b) Exit all Slysoft programs (including Anydvd, Clonedvd2, Clonecd, Clonecdtray, Clonedvdmobile, etc.). Check Windows Task Manager if you have to.
c) At this point disable your antivirus and firewall programs
d) Reinstall
e) Reboot
f) Install your license key (if required) http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=732
g) At this point enable your antivirus and firewall programs

4. Now follow the steps from this link in the order that they appear:

I carefully followed your instruction and all went well untill I reinstalled colnedvd. Goes through complete install then I click close, its takes 1-sec to do something else which always happens. I now can't find it any where on my pc. No desktop icon, not in programs files/elaborate directory. Even did a windows search on clonedvd. Could not find it. Tryied installing it twice more but same results.

Did you reboot after installing? If not, you should.

I thought I did the first. Will reboot again

Rebooting did not help. Clonedvd is no longer on my pc..
In your steps you want me to following first thong to do is uninstall clonedvd. It is no longer on my machine. The start all programs/elaborate and the probgrams files/ elaborates both only contain virtual clonedvd.
Do you wants me continue with to do list skipping this uninstall step

If the following option is listed, then go through the steps I wrote exactly as in the order they appear:

"start-->all programs-->Elaborate Bytes--->Clonedvd2-->Uninstall"

If that option isn't available to you, then start at "d"

OK, it worked that time.
Will backup Nanny Diaries again and get back to you.

Thanks

Well, it failed again in same way.

Here is a first. Had the movie Hancock on harddrive as an iso that would fit on a single layer disk. Burned it on a single layer disk using clondvd without a problem. I can't stay awake any longer(2:15am). Will check back in tommorow.

Thanks again

My opinion hasn't changed.

Stop the background running processes I mentioned earlier, and try the Taiyo Yudens with a new burner.

I backedup Nanny Diaries again, same way except this time I created an iso file. Then using clonedvd I burned the iso to a single layer disk with no problems. A work-around yes, but I now know I can burn to single layer disk again.

Will get new new burner. This will give us both a well deserved break!

Installed new Plextor px-850A. Set to region 1. Booktype is not automatic and will not let me change it (Booktype = NA).
Still have not received TY DVDs.
I used my sony disk(single layer), and backedup Nanny again. It worked. Backup played on pc and dvd player.

I appreciate all your time and effort in resolving "MY PROBLEM".

Many thanks

Installed new Plextor px-850A.

That's a rebadged LiteOn iHA322.

Set to region 1. Booktype is not automatic and will not let me change it (Booktype = NA).

Changing booktype only applies to dvd+r blank media. Plexutilities should let you change booktype but doesn't. So you may be out of luck unless the Lite-on booktype utility works for that drive (but I wouldn't hold my breath).

It worked. Backup played on pc and dvd player.

Looks like your old drive died then.

I appreciate all your time and effort in resolving "MY PROBLEM".

No problem

Take care
