Is there no way to convert PAL? If that's the case then I'm SOL?

It amazes me that player manufacturers will not sell cross-format NTSC/PAL hardware in the United States.

The same machine sold in PAL-land will play both formats usually.

Anyway, you can use AnyDVD + CloneDVD mobile, create a DIVX/AVI file of that DVD and then when you burn that to a blank you're in business as most US players will at least play that for you.

Actually i could have have sworn a mod or someone from the support team said anydvd needed to be set to the region of the disc( from the you use the most)

Got it!

so I used Clone DVD Mobile, made an .avi file and used Windows DVD maker to burn it. And now the back up works!
