Never seen anything like this before.
I downloaded the new setup file, and ran it. The install proceeded apparently normally to completion. However, when I selected "finish", and AnyDVD went to load, it crashed.
The frame for the settings began to draw, but never filled. The Windows XP (Pro) box came up telling me that AnyDVD had a problem and had to shut down appeared - and it did. It would not start when I tried again, or after a reboot.
I tried to revert to 6.5.4.0, but after it did the same thing at the same point. I then did a system restore to a couple of days ago, and 6.5.4.0 reappeared, and loaded just fine. I tried a new download copy of the 6.5.4.4, but it crashed, just as before. System restore, once again, brought back a functioning 6.5.4.0.
I've used AnyDVD for years, and never had a problem anything close to resembling this.
I can't give you much more than this because 6.5.4.4 simply won't run. Any insights? Anything else I can provide?
Thanks,
Gerry Hunter
