Any PSU experts? Type 2 vs Type 4 cables

That should be a good sign. A red light could mean you have issues with the power connection or card itself.
Well that's the weird part. My original cable does exhibit the red light. I have been using that cable (came with the card) since I have had to card.

It's all crazy inconclusive and there is no ASUS info on it I can find.

To be transparent the light is only on when the PSU is on and the PC is off. With the PC on the light is off.

HAHAHAHAH I found the ASUS "official" explanation of the red light. Unfortunately it's clear as mud.

Just to close the loop on this in case it helps someone.

Here are some notes:
--Problem?--
(Cable the GPU came with poked out pretty far from the card hitting the side of my case and the weight of the 3 PCIE cabled pulled on it)
1) Bought a Cooler Master cable claiming to be compatible with Corsair PSUs. It fit into my PSU and GPU but I noticed while the PSU end had 8 "sockets" only 6 pins were populated. My original cables populated all 8 pins. With JUST my PSU on, I did not get a light on the GPU as I normally do. I did not risk it and returned the cable.
2) Bought a Corsair right-angle adapter. It did not fit, my GPU had the wrong orientation.
3) Bought an Amazon cable that appeared to be well made and the seller had very specific info listed that was very helpful
This cable did not go to my PSU like #1, it was a "copy" of my original cable that received 3 PCIE power cables but it had the right angle I was looking for. This cable as well did not show a red light with the PSU on so I was nervous. But since this one had all 8 sockets populated with pins I took a risk and hit the power button on my PC. Everything seems fine.

TLDR:
I could not find out for certain what the red light with PSU on (but PC off) means. I read many accounts that different cables had different effects on it even when those power cables worked just fine.

This is the right angle cable that worked for my ASUS 4080 TUF.
