I tried that, the primary track shows the subtitles when in preview mode but they dont make it into the .mkv.

PowerDVD 12 is the same. Looks like the forced subs arent being converted with the video when I shift it to .mkv. The 25 GB ISO works fine.

I have made a successful rip of the film. Playback and audio is perfect except missing forced captions. I checked the forced caption box was selected when ripping but cannot get them to display. Bit of a problem during the Ape sign language scenes where you cannot read their lines.

Bought the Uk retail copy and ripped to ISO with AnyDVD and .mkv with CloneBD. The ISO mounts and plays fine but the mkv has a weird issue with the music. It "wavers" in and out speeding up and slowing down in the background. It's impossible to watch it.

UK version is track 344.mpls. Both BDRebuilder and MakeMKV both picked this up and the PowerDVD trick confirms. Not had an issue backing up with AnyDVD or converting with CloneBD either.
