SlySoft Player?

Nonetheless, for movies I'm still somewhat on the fence. I have mine set up so I click on an ISO, it mounts, and auto-plays with TMT3 full screen. I'm thinking about looking at media browser to see how much better that is. We'll see.

Talk about shock and awe. I can't believe you do that. Don't you want shiny pictures, movie details, and filters to separate the kids and parents movies, comedy and drama? Don't you want to control it all from an universal remote? Then, anyone can navigate the movies. No learning curve.

MyMovies makes it so easy to download all the movie meta-data. MediaBrowswer has a nicer interface and is more customizable. You should try them both.

By the way, thanks for the remote/receiver help guys.

In a word? No, not really. I couldn't care less about any of that nonsense. Which is why I haven't looked into it yet. First off, no one but me touches my HTPC. :) The kids are able to watch movies in their room's, so, the only time they watch movies in the living room is when they're watching a movie with me. And I LIKE simplicity. However, if I can make it even easier to just open 7MC and select the movie of my choice, great, I'll go that route. But all the other stuff, no, not really caring about that.

So I've been told. I want to try media browser first as I don't care about meta-data. I do care about just being able to click the movie and have it play. Media Browser should be able to handle that.

No problem. I like the new one I just got. The receiver is smaller than my old one and the black remote goes with my other remotes. Of course, now that I have the receiver I could just program my Harmony. :)

Got it. Just move the porn to a different computer...

Seriously, I know all about the destructive forces kids and wives present to our computers. No matter how hard we try to prevent it, they always find a way to mess things up. That's why no one touches my main computer. They have their own. However, the HTPC in the living room is basically a dumb terminal. It would be difficult to cause a lot of damage. Then again, that didn't prevent our friend's kid from pressing every button on every component in the living room the other day. I wanted to throttle him.

And I LIKE simplicity.

Me too. Big time. That's why I don't want to pick up a mouse or another remote in the living room or change settings on the computer to play different media. By the way, if you like simplicity, I would recommend MyMovies. Adding movies is a breeze and the interface is very clean. You can also just list your movies as text.

I'm surprised SlyPlayer will be free. What's the logic behind that? Give the razor away for free or maybe because they don't want to listen to whining about features?

I think because they want AnyDVD HD customers to have something useful to play their content on. :D Traditional players have to have a TON of protection built in, and not just the obvious stuff, either. On top of AACS, BD+, HDCP, etc, they have to protect their code from being debugged to find processing keys and all that fun nonsense. All of that protection weighs the player down and makes it not work on a variety of different machines. Now take SlyPlayer...NO protection crap in it whatsoever. AnyDVD HD is required to remove protection for SlyPlayer to play it. What they wanted, probably more for themselves than for us BTW :D, is a player that has all the crap removed and just provides a nice clean playing environment. And they decided to share it with us. How awesome is that?

Yup. They absolutely rock, no doubt about it. Now we just sit and impatiently wait. :) In the meantime we do the best we can with what we have.

Slightly off-topic, but since I have all you 7MC pros here online, why does my mouse cursor dissappear in 7MC?

Cause you stopped moving it? :D I have no idea really. I don't have that issue. Make sure you have up to date graphics drivers would be my only guess.

Do you know how to reduce 7MC from full screen to a window?

and how to set it to not be "always on top"

The always on top thing is in the settings somewhere. Full screen to a widow, when you move the mouse it should overlay some controls. In the upper right hand corner is the minimize, full screen icon, etc.

I would like to see infinite Aspect ratio adjustments, presets, and any other adjustments done on a per disk level This would be for true CIH setups.

For example- i one has a lens that always shoots out to 2.4 whatever 16by9 signal i sent to it, I would like the ability to have the player detect the AR of the picture being 2.2, and adjust it so that in the 16by9 frame being sent out it is stretched top to bottom and squeezed in a bit so that on a 2.4 screen with a 2.4 lens stretch it is displayed properly at 2.2

I know I am explaining this poorly, but I guess the basic gist is this- could slyplayer detect the frame of video in the frame, and knowing that automatically scale the picture in two directions to a user-input display aspect ratio? That way, 16by9 menus would look correct, 2.4 material would look correct, everything with a fixed CIH setup...

James- is it possible?

I don't think it could automatically detect, since the black bars are part of the image. Even if it could, a movie with variable ratios (like The Dark Knight) or even a fade to black could trip the detection and cause problems.

What it COULD do is store a setting for each disc, so you could manually set it the first time to stretch if needed, and then it would stretch the next time you put that disc (or image of said disc) in. Perhaps this could even be done by the community with some sort of database file.

I like the way you think Drexel!

A community of dedicated CIH users who would contribute the stretch percentages for each target screen size...

Maybe Brian Binnerup could add this to MyMovies.

Could this player interact with MyMovies like Anydvd doe sot some extent?

For all those concerned about remote control/integration with various media frontends... Well as long as it has some command line options it could integrate with pretty much anything. And for universal remote control of your HTPC look no further than http://www.eventghost.org/

I just hope SlyPlayer is coming soon because I invested lots of money into my HTPC and I am sick and tired with Cyberlink and ArcSoft, there is to much issues with this software and I don't want to buy a standalone Blu-Ray player!!!

Yes- I agree. Any specific time estimate for Slyplayer's release?
