Sparse File or something else?

I recently ripped the Region B versions of Die Hard 1, 2 and 3 as ISO and noticed that they each had the same 50GB size.

I engaged sparse file and re-ripped Die Hard 1 and it came out exactly the same size.

I opened the ISO and converted to a new ISO with Imgburn and now the size was 32GB.

Have converted all the ISOs to new ISOs with Imgburn and they are now 32GB, 41GB and 43GB respectively.

Should sparse file reduce the sizes directly, or am I misunderstanding how to use it correctly?
