I tried to rip the episodes from this disk, AnyDVD scanned it for a short while then came up with the "can't recognize the disc". In the warning box was "Check to see if the disc was clean and I have not selected a region on my DVD reader". I've cleaned the disk many times, both with the regular Disk Doctor and by hand with no better results. The DVD had region 1 selected. When I use Windows Explorer it doesn't show any files.

If I close AnyDVD the disk will work with no problems, also I can read the files on the disc with Windows Explorer. This is the last disk of the series and this is the only one with a problem for me.

Any ideas would be great.

Paul

3. You have a bad original disc, even if it plays fine. Exchange it

Thanks for the quick reply Webslinger. I'll update the firmware for the DVD and update AnyDVD. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Either way I'll get the disk swaped.

Thanks again

I'm relatively certain the problem is the disc is defective (it also rarely makes sense for the rest of the discs in Season 9 to work perfectly fine but not this specific one; they all wouldn't work if Anydvd wasn't handling the protection properly), so updating firmware and updating Anydvd are unlikely to help in this particular case. However, you should do those two things anyway.

This happens to me from time to time, the last was with Burn Notice season 1.
2 episodes on the second disk just wouldn't copy no matter what.
I ended up exchanging the set.

The replacement copied just fine.
