I have a copy of "Smart People" on Blu-ray that I am trying to rip. I am running Windows 7 64-bit with all updates, AnyDVD HD version 6.5.5.9, and Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.3.5113.0. I have been following the AnyDVD guide found at URL below for past several months with other Blu-ray rips and haven't had any problems.

The problem occurs when I use the "Rip Video DVD to Harddisk" feature in AnyDVD. At 7%, I get an error that says "Error reading from drive E:!"

The disk plays in Cyberling PowerDVD without any problems.

The log file is attached.

Any suggestions?

These are your options (in order of likelihood):

A. The original disc is bad even if it plays fine. Exchange it.

B. The disc is dirty. Clean it.

C. Your drive is slowly dying. Try a different drive.

D. The cable on the back of your drive is bad. Exchange it.

Thanks for the suggestions and referring me to the other URL. Out of curiousity, why doesn't Imgburn 2.4.0.0 work? Is 2.4.4.0 okay to use because it's the only version I can find?

Yeah... I always use the latest ImgBurn. It's one of those rare pieces of software that updates, you know, actually improve things.

I always try to keep my software up-to-date as well. But the thread that he referred specifically said not to use a certain version of ImgBurn and I wasn't sure if that mean that versions since that wouldn't work properly.

In "read" mode it started to give me a bunch of errors. I'll exchange it and try again.

I'll keep you posted.

IIRC that version of ImgBurn didn't let you copy AACS-protected discs, it was an error that was quickly fixed, the next version only gave you a warning (and an option to disable it).

So anyway, if you're using the "wrong" version, you would know because it wouldn't let you copy (and tell you) in the first place. You're fine with any version after 2.4.0.0.

sorry it took me so long to reply. everything is good. all i had to do was take the disc back and exchange it. must have been from a bad batch
