Hi Slysoft Team,

I have been having problem with the BD of 500 Days of Summer. Running the latest AnyDVD 6.7.7.0.

My problem - I can't seem to playback the movie with WinDVD2010 even with AnyDVD disabled nor can I use AnyDVD's option Rip to Image (which is what I really would like to do).

The disc does have a couple visible scratches but I'm not sure if that's the issue or if it's a copy protection issue - since on the disc it's printed "This disc is copy protected". Being that it's a bit dated release I thought I wouldn't have any issues with it. Attaching the logfile.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Avik

If you can't play it even with AnyDVD HD disabled then it's not an AnyDVD HD issue, and means you probably have a bad disc

Ok good - thanks for confirming my suspicion. Much appreciated.

Thanks mmdavis. But what are the chances of a second disc of same movie that doesn't give drive errors fail at exactly the same percent (3%) of disc during rip to image. Attached is the log file for this new disc. This time I get the error 'Error reading from drive E:! Sectors 78336-78337' (tried 3 times and failed even after wiping the disc on retries). And most importantly, this disc plays fine under WinDvd 9 with AnyDVD enabled.

Any ideas what the problem could be? I'd hate to get a 3rd disc only to find out that perhaps it is not the disc that's the issue this time (though the 1st disc was).

It could be a dying drive. But you could try to remove the SiRemFil.sys driver.

Thanks James - it could be (hope not)...but another BD movie (Gran Torino) ripped fine after my 1st 500 Days disc failed. But a newbie question - where will the SiRemFil.sys be located...currently searching through my hard drive but taking forever.

I will go ahead and get a 3rd disc...if removing this fle doesn't work. Is this a Slysoft file or a generic BD/UDF disc reading driver? Just curious.

Download Imgburn if you don't already have it (it's free). From Imgburn, click on Tools - Filter Driver Load Order. A box will pop up with the filters. Click on the one you want removed and click the "Remove Selected Filter" button.

Ooh - I just did the ImgBurn thing you suggested but didn't remove the filter. On selecting the file I realized what it was for - it was for my eSATA expressCard I use with my laptop to connect to external eSATA hard drives. Cannot remove this - I need this driver.

I did decide to disconnect from the drive and then try to rip it to my local hard drive - no go...same issue at 3% read. Well, I'll go ahead and try a 3rd disc. Haven't had this much trouble before with a BD rip.

Thanks for your help James & mmdavis!

Just an FYI - this is the info from imgburn for that file (see attached file) - I immediately recognized it once I saw what this driver's for.

I doubt that you'll need it. ImgBurn will remove it from the *optical disc* driver stack. A harddisk isn't an optical (CD-ROM class) drive.
