PowerDVD 9 Ultra 3901 update problems...AnyDVD rip related?

Greetings!

Not sure where this should go...it may be an issue between AnyDVD ISO's and PowerDVD 9 Ultra update 3901.

I saw someone had posted an issue with re-clock already:http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?p=304006&highlight=powerdvd+3901#post304006 My problem is different and I might wonder if Cyberlink was messing with AnyDVD users except for the conditions under which the error occurs.

Here it is. I rip my Blu-rays to decrypted ISO's using AnyDVD HD (and store them on my hard drive). For playback, I mount the ISO's using VirtualCloneDrive 5.4.5.0 and then playback using Windows Media Center with integrated Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 Ultra (PowerCinema) to an HDTV via a Radeon HD 5770 using the HDMI audio passthru to get HD audio and video.

Everything was working great until recently. Recently being the release of the 3901 update by Cyberlink. After this update, all my ISO's are now rejected with an unsupported format error. I was able to confirm the problem by rolling back to a recent backup image and going thru all the recent changes again with testing.

Strangely this doesn't affect the standard player just the PowerCinema player. The standard player will play the ISO's but requires at least 2 attempts before it starts.

I've posted a support ticket with Cyberlink already (and rolled back 3901 pending any suggestions). I'm running Windows 7 x64 SP1 Home Premium.
Please don't ask for a log file...there is none.

Edit: also happens with my BD-R AnyDVD disks.

If they iso were working before not know. Then powerdvd did something which is causing this problem. Also cyberlink is known to cause this problem to prevent iso and BD-r playback. Try with BD-Rom Media instead. Personally I got rid of powerdvd long time ago and switch to arcsoft tmt 5 and I have been very happy since.

Cyberlink has crippled their software and remove lot of feature which wasn’t required to do so. Such as playback of Blu-ray from hard drive in form of folder.

I tend to agree. I get exactly the same result on a second PC with completely different hardware running Win 7 x64 Pro SP1 so it's definitely something going on with their latest update. The other person in the Cyberlink forum resolved their issue by uninstalling and then changing the order of re-installing of Daemon Tools (which I don't have ), AnyDVD and Cyberlink PowerDVD. I'll setup a system backup this weekend so I can test more easily then try some things myself.

Will Arcsoft TMT 5 support the HDMI HD audio passthru of the Radeon 5000 series cards? IOW, will I get True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio bitstreams to my receiver via HDMI? I would consider it if it does that though I do use Windows Media Center for Netflix AND PowerDVD which is convenient since mostly you find Media Center remotes.

I won't help without an AnyDVD logfile.

I suppose I could post the log for one of the BD-R's I built but I don't think it would be useful. I mean would a disk I built by ripping with AnyDVD HD then extracted the movie with tsMuxeR (so it'd fit to a BD-R) and burned with ImgBurn that plays fine everywhere else really be helpful? PowerDVD wouldn't work properly with or without AnyDVD or Virtual CloneDrive installed. Plus another problem occurred with the latest Catalyst driver 11.2 and PDVD9 such that the HD bitstream option went away. That's it! I've had it with PDVD.

Personally I got rid of powerdvd long time ago and switch to arcsoft tmt 5 and I have been very happy since.

I tried the trial version of Arcsoft's TotalMedia Theater 5 and was very happy with it mostly (except the price!). What was great was being able to play a BD movie and have the correct (HD) audio stream play properly without having to mess with the settings like I had to do with PDVD9. I also like that it will play from the hard drive folder except I'll have to convert my ISO's. It works okay with Windows Media Center also though it could use some minor interface improvements

Overall the experience was good enough that I bit the bullet and pulled the trigger on a TMT5 purchase. Cyberlink PowerDVD is now kicked to the curb. Problem solved.

I have the same issue

Hi,

I have been using the PDVD 9 for over a year with the AnyDVD HD. I have used IMGBURN to directly extract and create the non-encrypted .ISO and store it on my hard drive. These have been playing back just fine using My Movies, WMC, and VCD 5.4.5.0, and I never updated my PDVD 9 software. But then I got Casino Jack, and it wouldn't play and said I needed to update my Blu-Ray player (I found the forum on that one AFTER I unfortunately updated PDVD 9 to update 4105). I found the beta for the AnyDVD HD update to resolve the Casino Jack issue. But now, since I updated PDVD9 to 4105, none of my ISO's play anymore, and give me the dreaded error message. I have the same result as indicated in this thread, that in the "classic mode" of PDVD directly, I am able to play the BluRay ISO after two tries. It fails with the same error message in the theater mode of PDVD. The unfortunate part is that I am unable to restore to a previous version, and I no longer have any of the interim PDVD patches (I think I was on the version as of march or april last year). When I re-install the original PDVD 2320, it has issues with playing newer Blu-Rays and it says i need to update my PDVD to play it. So I am stuck now.... so I just grudgingly don't use my movies and WMC anymore because it's broken, and I manually start the movie (twice) in PDVD 9 directly. I'm too cheap to drop another $100 on something I just bought a year and a half ago..

Without an AnyDVD log, what you're saying isn't helping things out at all.

Please look at the stickies at the top of this Forum, as in this link, for example. Also, try out a couple of examples I've posted on how to post a) an AnyDVD log or b) an AnyDVD System Information log.
