First of all... did the new driver work?
If not, did you recreate the profile with the new driver. Also, try running an update on the profile (right-click profile, select update).

If still no joy, let me know and I will send you a the Game Jackal debug kit. This will provide use with a lot more debug info.

Unable to run Simcity 3000 Unlimited in Game Jackal

I have read through this posting and I don't see any solution to the problem. I am having the exact same problem. Here is the information from the log which matches what was shown here. The interesting thing to know is that after I created the profile I was able to run the profile only 1 time and after that it pops up a window looking for the CD.

Here is the excerpt from the log. Any help would be greatly appreciated:

You running XP 64?

Thanks for looking into this - I am running the 32bit version of Windows XP Professional SP3. Here is the rest of the info I believe you need. Sorry I did not include this. I am new on this forum.

1. GJ V3.0.1.6
2. Windows XP Profession SP3 (32bit edition)
5. Unknown?
6. Simcity 3000 Unlimited
8. CD
9. USA
10 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHZ
11. Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-860H
12. McAfee Virus SScan Enterprise Edition V8.5i
13. Please insert CD ROM error

I worked on resolving this problem last night and discovered that McAfee was the problem. I have to STOP all McAfee/Network Associates Services and I am no longer prompted to load the CD. I am not sure what McAfee was/is doing to stop the program from working correctly but by stopping all the services I am able to run Simcity 3000 Unlimited with NO problems. Thanks for looking at this. I am glad I figured it out.

Very interesting... thanks for that information ;)

Problem Did not Disappear

Hi Matt

Just when I thought this was over it turns out that McAfee may or may not be the culprit. I occasionally get the same error message (prompting for the CD) even when McAfee Services have been disabled. I have been playing with this because it makes no sense. What I am finding is that If I repeatedly keep launching GameJackal and the Simcity3000 Profile a session will finally run correctly without the prompt. I usually get the CD prompt several times before it suddenly runs. I am not sure what on earth would cause this. It is almost like some process is taking a long time to get going before SimCity 3000 can run. Any thoughts on this?

sounds like it hasn't captured enough information, hence asking for the cd/dvd, but sometimes there is enough information already captured, which is why it works... seemingly random...

Right-click the profile and select update.

Hummmm you might have a point!

can someone who has this problem profile it again with the latest driver thing and image mode, so it gets the lot! its only as a test, it might have even been a double problem, 1 with the driver and 1 with not getting enough info?

but hey what do i know, its worth a shot though isnt it?

Do you have any suggestions as to how I can correct this so that it runs properly each time? I ran "update" and that did not correct the problem.

Up date on this issue

It's been a while since I posted on this but I thought I gave you some good news, the crashing has stoped, however I I'm now getting the insert cd error. does this mean I have to play this game for a while before it will work? View attachment Summary.zip

Can you try capturing the profile using the SafeDisc (Older Games) profile map.

it's been a while but I have some good news. It FINALLY worked. Mathew, thank you for snuff this old cp out. hopefully you can bug out the rest of those copy protection schemes out in the near future.
