right now i'm in the process of ripping about 300 dvd's and blu-rays to mkv with either anydvd hd with handbrake and also makemkv for the ones i want zero loss on.
this is the inexpensive media player i bought last year...

now while it works fairly well, sometime on the larger bitrate files the frames stutter a bit sometimes. i'm thinking this is possibly due to poor usb interface, and also not the greatest external drives. but it does have a esata port so i'm hoping by using the esata instead of usb, this problem should clear up. it has the most current firmware. thinking of upgrading the unit altogether.
