I was just on buy.com's website and noticed that the top Intel CPU's have almost been cut in half. May be a good time to build that HTPC that you have been wanting, or simply up your speed to play these HD movies.

I'm expecting the Q6600 to drop significantly by August (possibly sooner).

The dealer info list that I received in January, about the price reductions, didn't include the 6600. Perhaps that info will be updated soon.

    I'm told Q3-Q4.

It's already dropped to ~$580 U.S. currently in Canada: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=22211&vpn=BX80562Q6600&manufacture=Intel&promoid=1064

In the U.S., it's slightly cheaper:

Thread on possible future price drop here:

I'm seeing the $266 price mentioned a lot:

$535 on Newegg now so the $250 range could be a reality by Q3.
