Please ensure you are using the latest firmware for your optical drive. See here.

Matshita (Panasonic OEM) drives also have a reputation of being cheap junk (which is probably why some laptop companies love these drives)
They die easily, and also suffer from region coding issues. Click this. They should really be avoided.

Rip speeds on DVD and Blu-Ray might be improved by MediaCodeSpeedEdit. Please see RIPLOCK.
If installed (often from Duplex Secure, Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120% ), uninstall SPTD, which is the culprit for slow rips.
See here and here.

There are read errors which can be caused by a badly pressed disc, dirty disc, damaged disc, problematic filters, driver conflicts, and a slowly dying DVD drive among other things.

leap year R1 worked fine using Any DVD 6.6.3.4 and clone dvd. bad disc?

You need to attach an AnyDVD logfile too.
All defective disks are brand new.
The only way to prove a disk has a real issue is with logfiles.

To Post an Anydvd .zip log file

a) Ensure Anydvd is running.
b) Put the problematic original movie dvd in your burner. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
c) Right click the red fox icon on your system tray.
d) Select "Create Logfile"
e) Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
f) A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
g) Windows Explorer will open, and you will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f)
h) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like (in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
i) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
j) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
k) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
l) click "upload"
m) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

Can you create a CloneDVD log? (Just click "next" quickly, before it freezes).

Well, almost (I can hardly read it). Screen shots are always a pain, and not necessary. Click "details" in the box, and you can copy & paste the full error message. And even better, in the "Log" tab you can right-click and create a debug log, zip it and post it. Thank you.

And that's where you come in. I was just laying out the odds. :)

I finally found the time to analyze the disc, and I'm quite sure AnyDVD is missing a part of the protection.

There will be a YAAU (yet another AnyDVD update)...

hope thats what your looking for

In CloneDVD's title selection, disable titles 12, 13 and 14.
This should do the trick. Please let me know, if it works now.
