In a news post at BetaNews the editor is calling SlySoft "ostentatiousness".

I didn't know that our reputation is that bad?

 and sad....

Happy New Year to BetaNews and everybody else!

We are talking about BetaNews, afterall. They are far from considered the pinnacle of online journalism.

Using that fabulous big word is a great eye catcher. Slysoft does take pride in its achievements and rightly so. The press release was vainglorious but not in a bad way.

Thanks DrinkLyeAndDie for cheering me up :agree:

They like their sarcasm too:

5:30 pm EST December 29, 2008 - Well, that didn't take long. Late this afternoon, SlySoft announced it had updated the update, with AnyDVD HD version 6.5.0.3. Evidently the company needed to put a few tweaks on its "incredible magic."

... or maybe I am still waking up.

Ok, there is this Fulton guy who badly needs to point out that he is the III of his kind and he accuses SlySoft of ostentatiousness? Interesting.

I've read the linked article, and clearly the author has a cross to bear and flag to fly. Impartially and without prejudice, as a multiple Slysoft product consumer personally I don't think Slysoft or its employees are ostentatious.

But on the other hand, I do think that at the moment you are sitting on the that precarious precipice of self-belief in your own legend unaware recent decisions, actions and a notable pre-occupation primarily with a single product is alientating the goodwill of a considerable percentile of your existing customer base. And this comment from a still reasonably pro-Slysoft person.

It's undoubtedly comfortable up there on the pedastal to which Slysoft has inarguably earned the right to mount, and you don't have to listen to the growing disgruntlement of the milling throng when the applause from appointed accolytes is far more congenial to your ears. But you'll listen and hear if you're really wise and truly unaffected by "ostentatiousness".

As a consumer, I am sympathetic to a couple of your criticisms that you mentioned elsewhere. As a moderator, that's all I'm really going to say publically.

By the way, Drinklyeanddie isn't Betanews the site where people would post torrent links to Anydvd cracks? Or am I getting that mixed up with something else.

Anyway, with respect to the article, Anydvd has been the most versatile decrypter for a long time; when you're the king, people get jealous.

There have been instances where links to cracks/keygens have been posted in the comments. But it isn't normal protocol and usually those people are delt with.

You're thinking of a chinese website which I will refrain from naming.

For me, as previously worked in the automotive industry "Exceding customer expectations" was one the keywords as beeing comepetitive. The reputation of Slysoft to me and to my friends as far as I know, is that Slysoft is bringing this expression to more than that. Nowdays, I actually expect Slysoft to be beyond my expectations, and I feel secure that it will happen. And it does, everytime...
So, whatever too many letter word is used, Slysoft is the end consumer dream which why me, my friends and I hope everyone else who needs the software don't hesitate a second to buy the products, due to the SOLID impression on customer orientation.

That's exactly what I think.

SlySoft has managed to get me stunned about their quality of service more than once. When I file a support ticket or write a form post that this or that disk does not work, I can be sure to get an answer, that the issue will properly be dealt with and that eventually an update will be released. Often, these steps only take a few days, if not hours.

Today, by breaking the new BD+ method, SlySoft has achieved something many people have eagerly been waiting for, but nobody else yet managed to get working. SlySoft has the sole right to be proud of what they achieved. One may call it "self-adulation" or "ostentatiousness", but I would say that "enviousness" is what probably is behind it. SlySoft deserves the fame and obviously, some people have a problem admitting that.

It absolutely doesn't matter that there was an "update for the update". At least it was properly announced and the corrected version was not just uploaded without any notice - which is what several companies would do to "resolve" the issue. It was (as always) absolutely no problem to install the second of today's releases, I even didn't need to restart. There is absolutely nothing to be excited about, there actually isn't anything to be even mentionend. But, as Webslinger pointed out,
when you're the king, people get jealous.
- 'nuff said.

The facts for me are 1) I have a sizeable and growing Blu ray collection; 2) I own ALL my discs, and import ALL of them to my network; 3) I have invested a lot of time, effort and money into building my own whole-house digital movie viewing system; and most importantly 4) NONE OF THIS would be possible without AnyDVD HD doing what it does--and user-friendly (contributing to the WAF) at that.

Keep doing what you do and your support will stay strong and continue to grow!

Just my .03 (you keep the extra penny).

The ability to stream ISO's from a main storage server to any PC and with fast enough drives/networks stream more than 1 to any PC in my house WITHOUT having to find the disk, load the disk, sort through menu's, extras, ads, previews - that does it for me right there.

Apple is the only ostentatious (not to mention pretentious) computer company I'm aware of.

Ok, there is this Fulton guy who badly needs to point out that he is the III of his kind and he accuses SlySoft of ostentatiousness? Interesting.

LOL... wonderfully ironic.

Taking down the DRM man!!

People downloading cracks to Slysoft software are the same type of lazy people that want quality anything for free WITHOUT PAYING FOR IT.

I bought all of the Slysoft suites, but I was so impressed with their customer service, and their products, that I even bought AnyDVDHD, CloneDVD, CloneCD, and CloneDVDmobile for my brother that lives in another part of the US.

He has kids, and it helps him out to back up his movies so his kids don't scratch up the DVDs and CDs that he LEGALLY BOUGHT AND PAID FOR.

All this DRM crap is really amazing, for they'll make it harder to watch and listen to stuff that you paid for legally in the first place. (Sony rootkit, anyone?? Remember that fiasco??)

Like everyone else said, and I agree, Slysoft rocks!!

It's pretty stupid we need Slysoft in the firstplace. Slysoft's being in business is proof that the movie and gaming industies are anoying there customers royaly, enough for them to willingly pay slysoft for a fix. That really does sound stupid, but isn't that just life for ya.

That said Slysoft do a fine job and it was well worth the money buying Anydvd HD. Whats wrong with being proud of breaking such encryptions and gloating and proclaiming things like BD+ and ACCS are pointless. The Real comedy is that Hollywood are too stupid to see exactly whats happening and end up wasting even more money irritating there own customers.

It's a real pain trying to watch blu-ray/HDDVD without AnydvdHD. Bloody HDCP!!
