Hidden and Dangerous 2 - crash on profile creation

Just trying out GJ2 before purchase but having problems with H&D 2. System crashes whilst trying to create a profile.

1. What version of Game Jackal are you running?

2.9.18.607 and previous non beta version tried as well

2. What Operating system are you using? 64 bit? service pack?

XP Pro with SP2 fully updated with all patches etc 32 bit

3. If you have virtual drives, disable them while profiling and playing profiles. This includes Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%, Virtual Clonedrive, Clonecdtray, and possibly Anydvd.

None installed

4. Remove packet writing software from your system (including Roxio's Directcd, Nero's Incd, Roxio/Sonic's DragtoDisc, Drive Letter Access, CyberLink InstantBurn, NTI's Filecd, etc.)

5. What protection does your game use? Don't know? Find out before posting about issues (and include that information)! Use Protection ID. It's a free program. Use ProtectionID and scan your HD directory where the game is installed (right click the icon on your toolbar, and select "scan files/folders"). Or just scan the main program .exe(s) that you find in the game directory on your hard drive. Provide the protection name and the version number.

14. You should have two log files in your Game Jackal directory. The first is called. Proc Monitor.log, and the second is called Profile.log (do not post the Profiler.log file... notice the "r" at the end). Copy and past the information into your next post. Here is one way to do it:

15 a) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)
b) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Click "Clipboard". Then paste the information you pasted into your clipboard into your next post (ctrl-v).

Do you mean you need to reboot?

Also, the log files show the profile shutting down very fast... Make sure you are monitoring the correct exe.

Finally... do other games work ok?

Hi yes the system crashed and automatically reboots.
I believe I am monitoring the correct exe file and have also tried the drag and drop route with the shortcut - with the same effect.
Sims 2 Pets was working but now requires the disc again

Ok... re the Sims 2 Pets. Try the update function (right-click the profile then select update). This should fix it.

Now... why H&D2 is crash is a bit of a mystery. And the fact it is happening during profile creation is even more odd. Can I ask up to change a registry value. Under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SlySoft\GameJackal" change the value "WT Mode" to "3" (if it doesn't exist, create a new string value called "WT Mode" and set it to "3"). Try and create it again.

Thanks for that still no luck with either despite trying the above. I guess I will stick with popping the discs in at the mo and try again with a future update. Thanks for the help and keep up the good work slysoft - no probs with any of your other software

The next beta version contains quite a few updates to the driver. It maybe worth waiting to see if this beta version helps (should be release in the next week or so).
