I just started using two of these drives. Their playback quality is excellent. However, the drives seem to need some kind of dampening to restrain their tendency to vibrate when in operation. Pioneer supplies a stand to mount each drive vertically. However, they do not supply the small rubber cushion that's mentioned in the user manual. Strange. Also: even on playback, the drives seem to run a bit warm. Is this normal for Blu-Ray external drives? I also wonder why Pioneer elected not to include a power supply with these units. And can anyone suggest replacement USB cables for these drives? The USB cable supplied with each drive is way too short. Any thoughts? Thanks!

1. **Vibration**: It's not uncommon for optical drives, especially those with high-speed operation like Blu-ray drives, to exhibit some vibration. This can be due to the spinning of the disc itself or the mechanics of the drive. Dampening measures can help. If the manufacturer's suggested rubber cushion is not provided, you might want to use third-party rubber or silicone feet that can absorb vibrations. You can easily find these in most hardware or electronics stores.

2. **Heat**: Optical drives can get warm during prolonged use. As long as it's not excessively hot, it's typically within operational norms. Ensure that the drive has adequate ventilation and isn't placed in a confined space.

3. **Replacement USB Cables**: If you find the supplied USB cable too short, you can easily buy a longer one. When buying a replacement, ensure it is of good quality, especially if the drive draws power from the USB. Look for USB cables that specifically mention "high-speed data transfer" and, if possible, are from reputable brands. The type of USB connection (e.g., USB-A, USB-C, micro USB) should match what's on your drive and computer.

4. ***Power Supply*** For the external power supply.
Check the back of the unit its normally shows the voltage and milli amper it needs.
Pioneer has dedicated power supplies for their drives. However you can use other power supplies as long as it meets the specs.
The specs should be written on the website of the drive.
