Since the disc is from the US you should set it to "Region A" instead of "Automatic".
 
If I set it to region A it still doesn't work.

There's a supplemental feature on my Criterion Godzilla Blu-ray, the 1956 American edited, "Godzilla, King of the Monsters!"

Watching that movie makes one appreciate the original Japanese version even more.
