Greetings,

I just purchased GameJackal Pro and I don't get what's up with it and "Gears of War." Any ideas??? Specs below! Thanks in advance...Jim

1. What version of Game Jackal are you running?
Game Jackal Pro 3.0.15

2. What Operating system are you using? 64 bit? service pack?
Windows XP Pro -- Service Pack 3, v.3311

3. If you have virtual drives, disable them while profiling and playing profiles. This includes Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%, Virtual Clonedrive, Clonecdtray, VSO's EZ Play (comes with Blindwrite), and possibly Anydvd. These are programs that are typically blacklisted by copy protections.
None running.

4. Remove packet writing software from your system (including Roxio's Directcd, Nero's Incd, Roxio/Sonic's DragtoDisc, Drive Letter Access, CyberLink InstantBurn, NTI's Filecd, etc.)
I have DragtoDisc (remove it or just turn it OFF).

5. What protection does your game use? Don't know? Find out before posting about issues (and include that information)! Use Protection ID. It's a free program. Use ProtectionID and scan your HD directory where the game is installed (right click the icon on your toolbar, and select "scan files/folders"). Or just scan the main program .exe(s) that you find in the game directory on your hard drive. Provide the protection name and the version number.
SafeDisk 4.85

6. What is the name of the game you're trying to run?
Gears of War

7. What is the version of the game?
1.2

8. Is it cd or dvd version?
DVD

9. What region or country is the original disc from?
U.S.

10. What cpu are you running?
AMD 3000+

11. What optical drives (dvd-rom,cd-rom, burners) are you using to create profiles with? What firmware version is installed on your reader?
20X DVR-RW

12. What security software (firewall, antivirus) are you using? Please provide version numbers.
Clamwin Anti-virus (generic freeware version)

13. Describe your problem, provide full error messages, and please state clearly what you were doing when you received those error messages.
Just purchased GameJackal Pro and I get the following error when launching the game after trying to create a profile:

The DVD-ROM cannot be located.
Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, click OK, and restart the application.

Ok I've provided the info steps 14 & 15 -- so I'm just pasting "all" of the steps in order again! I also uninstalled Roxio DragtoDisc as well. I've done Tech Support for an occupation before also, so I'll be impressed if you can kick this one!!!...:) Lots of info here!

Jim

14. a) Navigate to your Game Jackal folder (typically C:\Program Files\SlySoft\Game Jackal where "c:" is your hard drive if you use Windows XP)
b) You will see a log file called "Summary.log". Rename this file to Summary.txt
c) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like (in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
d) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
e) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
f) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the summary.txt file
g) click "upload"
h) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .txt file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at
--> SUMMARY.TXT is attached. <--

15 a) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)
b) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Click "Clipboard". Then paste the information you pasted into your clipboard into your next post (ctrl-v).
--Downloaded it and the info requested is below:

This filter needs to be removed.

1.
i) Create a backup of your registry
ii) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)
iii) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Select "AFS2K". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Select "
CDR4_XP". "Click "ok".
iv) Reboot

The programs that installed those filters may no longer work properly.

2. Create a new profile--and try again

3. Reupload the summary.txt file if that doesn't work

I won't be able to troubleshoot this issue. I'm only trying to get the info that Matthew might need in order to troubleshoot.

Ok, I backed up my Reg, removed said filter, rebooted, created a new profile...but to no avail. So I'm uploading the new "Summery.txt" file.

Jim

Under setting, select "Enable advanced logging". Then post your summary.log file (as an attachment) after you try to run the profile.

Ugh -- with advanced logging enabled and trying to attach the doc, I get the following:

Summary3.txt:
Your file of 281.6 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 19.5 KB for this filetype.

Try zipping it.

The first thing to try is to put in the game's DVD and run the update function (right-click the profile).

Let me know if that helps.
The other thing I noted is that you are running SP3. Is this a release version of the service pack?
