What you think hardly matters
ATI made a mistake with their drivers, they set the overlay to have a maximum resolution to fit a 1650x1080 widescreen monitor in some of their driver releases (when it should have been set to 1920x1080). How hard is that to understand?
However, in MY case it definetely seems to be a PowerDVD issue.
I connect my computer to 1) Samsung SyncMaster 226BW monitor (HDCP compatible, max mode is 1680x1050), and to 2) Samsung HDTV 4695 (full 1080p, HDCP compatible).
I have Hewlett-Packard HD100 drive with bundle version of PowerDVD.
I work on Extended Desktop mode.
Catalist version is 2007.0821.2146.36991 (latest or almost latest).
When I try to start a HD-DVD movie on the monitor, it works excellent.
When I move PowerDVD window to the TV and then try to start a movie, it shows a message box "Cannot initialize player, please make sure your system meets minimum requirement blablabla".
However, if I start a movie on the monitor and when it starts I move window to the TV, it works! Unfortunately, I have a full screen issue - it works as if a resolution was 1680x1050.
Registry Tweaks mentioned above haven't changed anything.
Can anybody help?
(Maybe it is an issue with "Dual Display Mode"? Since I have a bundle version, I don't have "Dual Display Mode" settings.)
Addition:
If I make Samsung TV a primary display, it works excellent. I have full screen 1080p. Can't be better.
So, I think it is proved that it's a PowerDVD double display mode issue.
The question is still here. Is it possible to do anything with PowerDVD version that I have?
