Hello,, yesterday I updated my AnyDVD and burnt 21 and Penelope. well when I tried to play them to make sure they worked as I always do. I get this pop up after the fox stays light pink for about a minute.

WARNING

AnyDVD 6.4.5.6.

Failed To read CD
This could have several reasons:
1. -DVD Media is dirty, you can try to clean it.
2. -DVD Media is damaged, you have to replace it.
3. -your drive is a region locked RPC2 Drive, which does not allow reading of scrambeled sectors from a different
region and you try to read a DVD from a different region.
Known drives having this problem are RICOH/Phillips DVD Writers and Matshita/panasonic DVD readers and writers
you can try to find a RPC1 patched firmware at http://www.rpc1.com

4. -your drive is an RPC2 that has not been assigned a region. try to assign one or try to find a patch.

I am using Windows XP, SP3
I tried to play them in my DVD player hooked to my TV and it says no disc. I have to work tomorrow so it may be 5 pm or later before I see any replies to this.
This is the very first time I have had any problems with this program,, I love it so I hope it is an easy fix. I know a little about computers, that I have learned on my own the last few years but not a whole lot so please bear with me, if I ask more questions to any replies. Thank you very much! :)

oh and my DVD player and burner are HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GWA4164B
and TSST corp DVD-ROM TS-H352C

General Advice

  • Update your burner's firmware (if available).

  • Use good quality media (Memorex, Ritek, Princo, Fuji, TDK from Costco, and Maxell not made in Japan are not good quality media). If you use poor quality blank media, then you should expect problems.
    • Use Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden (not Valueline), and Maxell Broadcast Quality for single layer backups.
    • Use Verbatim +R DL (made in Singapore) or MAM-A +R DL 8x for double layer blank media.
    • Don't use -R DL (useless format).

  • Set your drive's region code if it's not set already.
    • Right click the fox on your toolbar. Exit Anydvd
    • Click start. Right click on "My computer"--->select "properties".
    • Click on the 'Hardware' tab--->click the 'device manager' button.
    • Open the dvd/cdrom branch---> right click on your optical drive
    • Click "properties".
    • You should have a region tab. From there you can select a region.
    • Select the region that you're in
    • Start Anydvd

  • If you were burning at max. speed, try lowering your burn speed (if you're using 16x rated blank media, do not burn below 4x).

  • If you are using +R, +RW, or +R DL media, change the booktype to "DVD-ROM" (see step 3 in article "How to burn a simple backup with CloneDVD2" for details).

  • Bad burn quality is notorious around the end of discs if using poor quality media (try using a custom disc size of 4300 in whatever burning program you're using if you're using low quality single layer blank media) and also at layer breaks when using low quality DL media (use Verbatim +R DL media made in Singapore instead, and change the booktype to "DVD-ROM").

just checking in 1 last time before I head to bed, to see if my brother can come help me with this tomorrow evening. I do use Verbatim DVD+R 16x Thanks so much for such a quick reply,, I will try this all tomorrow evening if I have time, if not I will have to do it maybe Saturday, I own my own business and weekends are my busy times. So forgive me if I have to come back as late as the first of the week, with more help.

I would appreciate the information I requested (including media codes--not just Verbatim), but in the interim, this is what people should be doing:

1. Use Anydvd 6.4.5.6: click http://static.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD6456.exe

You may need to reboot after installing if prompted to do so.

2. Click the red fox icon on your toolbar. Click "default". Click "ok".

3. If you use DVDShrink, Nero Recode, or programs that generally can't handle structural protections, right-click on the fox icon on your toolbar and select "Rip video-dvd to Hard Disk". Choose your source and destination paths. Click "Copy", and wait for Anydvd ripper to finish. You can then import that rip into whatever program you want. This is an important step if the original disc contains structural protection.

You don't need to do this if you own Clonedvd or are planning to make a backup with Clonecd.

4. Use Clonedvd 2.9.1.9: click http://static.slysoft.com/SetupCloneDVD2919.exe

5. Follow the steps from this link in order: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=476 (follow them step by step)

If you're using +R DL blank discs, I recommend using Clonecd: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=327

6. If you still have problems, then . . .

A)
a) Ensure Anydvd is running.
b) Put the problematic original movie dvd in your burner. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
c) Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
d) Select "Create Logfile"
e) Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
f) A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
g) Go to your My Documents folder
h) You will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f)
i) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
attach.gif
(in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
j) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
k) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
l) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
m) click "upload"
n) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

B) State the full a)error message(s) you encountered (click "details"), b)tell us what program(s) you were using when you received the error message(s), and c) describe in detail what you were doing when you received the error message(s). What problem are you having exactly?

C) Click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=5091 to see if your question has already been answered

D) Provide the Clonedvd log file after Clonedvd has finished--or after you receive an error message.

i)In the white area under the tab labelled "Log", right click and select "save as".
ii)Select where you want to save the log, and then save it.
iii) The log will be a .txt file. Zip it up using Winzip or another program. If the text file is small enough, you should be able to upload it anyway. Otherwise, use Winzip.
iv) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
attach.gif
(in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
v) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
vi) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
vii) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file (or .txt file) that you created.
viii) click "upload"
