Sorry about the long write up but I have successfully been using CloneDVD2 (2.8.9.9 to current version 2.9.1.1), AnyDVD (5.4.1.1 to current version 6.1.6.9) and Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 w/drag to disk together for well over a year with no conflict issues. I have always updated the CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD with the latest versions to stay current.
I recently downloaded and installed AnyDVD 6.1.6.9 and now I cannot play newly created or previously backup disk with my optical disk drive. The windows explore and the video software PowerDVD does not recognize the drive (it says “No Disc In Drive”). Both these apps recognized and accessed the disc before the update. The backups play fine on the DVD player. The optical drive will recognize my original DVD disk, CD and CDRW disk. The optical drive also recognizes DVDs make on my DVR. The drive just won’t recognize the backup disk it created or DVD disk that are used for data storage (i.e. photos). I have totally uninstalled AnyDVD and the drive will still do not recognize any of the backup disk I've created.
My drive is a NEC-1100a with a firmware set of 10FD.
I recently noticed that AnyDVD displays a message something like “AnyDVD is preparing your disk for use please wait”. It never did this before. Is this something new that may be in conflict with my Roxio drag to disk? I have turned off the Roxio drag to disk (you cannot uninstall drag to disk without uninstalling the entire Roxio Easy Media Creator, I need the Roxio for my other video projects) and the drive is still not recognized.
I have also read through and tried all the items on the post Frequently Asked Questions (READ BEFORE YOU POST) and still cannot get the drive to work. (i.e. I’ve uninstalled AnyDVD and run CCleaner, I’ve upgraded to AnyDVD 6.1.7.0).
I have read through the postings in the forum and have found quite a few users updating to 6.1.6.5 through 6.1.6.9 and are having similar problems. Something has changed some setting on my system where my drive does not work. I know you have said that AnyDVD doesn’t affect your optical drive but the drive worked perfectly fine until AnyDVD was updated.
It is a shame this is happening because AnyDVD and CloneDVD were such stable products for the longest time
Please let me know if you have any solutions.
