Hi Teddy, new to the forum.
I have a WH16NS60 that I need to convert to a UHD Friendly drive is it the WH16NS40?
Attached is the firmware dump from my drive, are you able to help me with it.
@RISman
Here's your modded firmware/(s)(see at the bottom bar of this post):

As no response from Risman,
so it doesn't appear really urgent and the developers can't afford endless free server space.
@RISman: In case you really need the modded firmware, you can ask back and i'll reattach modded firmware in this post here for your unit temporarily.

(I used Teddy's hexrange with "dd" hexediting method to export the appropriate hexrange and offsets from your original WH16NS60 into a clean firmware:
WH16NS60_Risman_convert.zip
(see at the bottom bar of this post)
WH16NS60 converted to:
Risman_WH16NS60_to_BH16NS55_1.00.bin
Risman_WH16NS60_to_BH16NS55_1.01.bin
Risman_WH16NS60_to_BH16NS55_1.02.bin
Risman_WH16NS60_to_BW-16D1HT_3.00.bin
Risman_WH16NS60_to_BW-16D1HT_3.01.bin

Then flash one you prefer with Dosflash.
You can decide which one of those to flash, so you can also crossflash to Asus BW-16D1HT.
I'd choose BH16NS55 FW 1.02 or Asus BW-16D1HT 3.01.
The Asus BW-16D1HT 3.0x firmware rips faster and more silent than LG.
(The BW-16D1HT is just a rebadged BH16NS55, same unit but with specialised firmware from Asus)
If you decided and flashed "Risman_WH16NS60_to_BW-16D1HT_3.01.bin", and you want to update to 3.02, you need to run Asus update utility (=> 3.0(2) max!!) afterwards:
As Asus no longer offers 3.02, and only 3.03 (which is NOT UHD-friendly), here's the Asus update utility 3.02 file attached as well from January 2018:

Hi Kufo,
Thanks for the reply and the tip. Unfortunately I will need to go and try to borrow someone's PC again with the a MB that supports IDE mode - if I can I will connect the drive directly to the MB.
Regards
I'm located in Europe, I'd have a few Core2 motherboards with support SATA-operation in IDE mode support. If you want, you could ship your unit to me, and I'll make the dump.
Or I could ship an old Intel i945P motherboard with cheap CPU and RAM+cooling to you. PM me in case.
A pickup parcel shop for better anonymity would be ideal. "GLS" is daugther company from "Royal Mail", so shipping from here via GLS pickup parcel shop to a Royal Mail delivery office should not be a problem:
https://www.royalmail.com/delivery-and-collection-office-finder/
But maybe you you'll find another persion already in the UK helping you.
Cheers, theosch
