Hi All
Thanks for extremely cool products. About a month ago I made some "tweaks" to my computer that I use for AnyDVD HD & Clone DVD. I do a good deal of audio recording as a musician and made some "typical" adjustments to eliminate virtual memory, system restore, programs loading up front when the computer was started, etc. CPU efficiency and that sort of thing. I noticed while watching some back ups of my favorite movies recently that the quality is diminished. It's like a can see a translucent fog or smoke in the darker scenes. (creepy!) The first thing that I noticed when using Clone DVD after I changed my computer's factory settings was that the process takes about twice as long to back up. Everything seems to work fine but just takes a lot longer.

This is the thing. About the same time that I noticed this change I got a HDTV. I just wanted to make sure before I turn everything back on to it's factory status on my computer that you thought it may in fact be these new settings/changes that I made. I tried switching between the HDMI and regular RCA connections and it made no difference so I am leaning toward making the changes to manually restore my computer's virtual memory & start up.

Thanks Again For #1 Product, (you guys ROCK!)

If you "tweaked" your computer and then the problems started then I'd have to look at the tweaks. I don't see how the HDTV could be related. I really have no idea what to say about the visual fog. I would try going back to the old defaults and see visual issues go away as well as it taking longer to complete things.

Disable Anydvd. Then watch whatever it is you're watching. Still see "fog"?

Then the problem isn't Anydvd.

As for Clonedvd taking twice as long . . .

from Frequently Asked Questions (READ BEFORE YOU POST)

13. My burns are taking forever to complete suddenly. Why?

a) Is DMA enabled for your drives in
i) Windows XP?
ii) Windows Vista?
iii) general?

b) Is the original source disc bad? If so, the reading process will take longer.
Download Nero cd-dvd speed. It's a free program. Select the tab labeled "scandisc". Select the appropriate drive letter, and click "start". If Nero cd-dvd speed reports read errors, your disc is bad and needs to be exchanged--even if it plays fine (or your optical drive could be slowly dying).

c) Did you select an appropriate burn speed in Clonedvd? Obviously 4x is going to take longer than 12x.

d) Try another cable on the back of your burner (try an 80 wire cable if you have an ide burner). Maybe your existing cable has gone bad.

e) Try defragmenting your hard drive.

f) Ensure speed control is unchecked in Anydvd (or at least, ensure "Slow and Quiet" is not enabled).
