When we release CloneDVD mobile updates we try to add significant changes to this ever-growing field.
For example in versions above 1802 we added some additional flavors for the "Android" family.

Later releases we expanded this further. There are simply too many new names to keep the list current.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Adding a number to the device name and offering super-large resolutions does not mean your current files are obsolete.
Neither does it mean that CloneDVD mobile needs a "boost" in the profile for your device. The resolutions these newer devices support can lead to misconceptions.
Example: The "new" Kindle Fire 7 offering 1280x800 resolution and that not a standard video resolution.
The closest you would get would be 1280x720, to make a video at 1280x800 would mean having to zoom in on the video thereby cropping off the edges.
We provide the most likely resolutions in our profiles to allow better processing and playability.

In spite of our efforts to keep the device list current, the manufacturers are very creative and seem to be adding to the name list faster than we can keep up.

I see this as the "emperor's new clothes" syndrome. The name may change, a new case is applied, but "the works" remain the same.

If you do not see your specific device name in the list in CloneDVD mobile you can still process a DVD for it.

1. Consult the device operator's guide and look for the supported video format(s) and/or the operating system.

2. Go to the home-page for the manufacturer and look at the "features" list. There you will see the possible video formats and/or operating system your device supports.

3. Most of the time you can use one of the generic profiles like Google or Android OS or MP4 or DIVX/AVI.

4. A good example is the iPhone/iPod. Adding a number like "5" to the device name does not mean all M4V files you have will not play! Just use the same old-iron profile as shown in CloneDVD mobile for your Apply device, process through iTunes and enjoy. There is NOTHING new for us to do on the conversion to M4V files for this device.

We added some new "Android" Operating System names to include:
- Gingerbread (Android 2.3 Op. System)
- Ice Cream Sandwich
- Froyo
- Honeycomb
- Jellybean

Recent Android Devices (2011/2012)

- The Acer Tab A500 runs the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for devices built after April 2012. Previous models used Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread

- The Vizio tablet runs Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread

- The Toshiba Thrive runs Android Honeycomb http://us.toshiba.com/tablets/thrive/10-inch/

(Users report using XOOM options for this will work also. See the link below for that)

- The Motorola XOOM runs Andoid Honeycomb http://mediacenter.motorola.com/Fact-Sheets/Motorola-XOOM-Fact-Sheet-3537.aspx

- The ASUS (Eee Pad) Transformer TF101 http://eee.asus.com/eeepad/transformer-prime/features/ and use the "Honeycomb" profile for this one. NOTE: ASUS told us they upgraded the operating system to Android Ice Cream Sandwich as of January 12, 2012.

- The Samsung Epic™ 4G Android Smartphone as found here for info: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SPH-D700ZKASPR-features so use "Gingerbread" for this or the "Samsung - Any Android" selection

- The Samsung Galaxy is another standard Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) device. http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxys3/specifications.html shows nothing exotic about the hardware using the standard Android 4.0 operating system. The standard video file applies like to all other Android devices: Video Codec: MPEG4, H.264 so you use the generic "Any Android" option under "Samsung".

We'll also add significant device "nuances" to the Forum as these come to us from user input or in Support:

Examples:

ASUS Transformer http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=51500

Kindle Fire (including "7") http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=51342

Xoom http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=49360 (also usable for the Toshiba Thrive)

HP Touchpad http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=49353

Nokia Lumia http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=51654 (the newer model 920 will accept the same profiles)

BlackBerry Playbook http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=48319

BlackBerry Torch 9810 Smartphone - 7.0 http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smart...ed_audio_video_file_formats_61_1441597_11.jsp

Galaxy Tab http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=51793

Nookcolor and Nook HD+ https://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=52062
Hot tip: use the generic MP4/AVC @ 852x480 + quality slider set 10 (super quality output even on the small screen w/ a file size of 447MB)
The Ice Cream Sandwich profile should do this and applies also to the Nook HD+ see http://reviews.cnet.com/tablets/barnes-noble-nook-hd/4507-3126_7-35472167.html

The intent is to eventually merge these items into the next version and in that way keep the product migrating forward as new names surface.

The next public release will have a further updated list.

Slyce is the new Blu-Ray authoring/burning program we will soon release and it will share the engine and device properties of the next major CloneDVD mobile update coming along in August 2012.

Ice Cream Sandwich

Hi Frank,

No matter what I try, I can't seem to get Ice Cream Sandwich to show up in Google Devices. I have installed 1806, but it still isn't there.

Is there a step I have missed maybe?

Thanks!

Z

Are you sure?

On my "google" list I see that in 1806. Are you sure you installed 1806 and rebooted. Click the About button and make sure it's 1806 you have.

Now THAT is beyond cool, Frank. Thanks for the "heads up".

BTW, does this mean Slyce is being released in August 2012, or is just CloneDVD Mobile getting a major overhaul? (crosses fingers) ;)

Hi Frank,

Yes, I am running 1806 -- and Ice Cream Sandwich isn't showing up for some reason.

Not sure why I can't get Ice Cream Sandwich to pop in.

What do you think?

Thanks!

Ice Cream Sandwich is now listed.

Thank you!!!

Will Microsoft Surface profile be added?

the surface is not necessary as it has full windows 8 application support
but if you want to encode for windows media player see this article on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Media_Player#Format_support

or install another player i personally use media player classic home cinema edition as part of CCCP

or choose any other player of your choice
a good place to start researching is wikipedia's comparison page

G'day Frank,
I loaded Clone DVD Mobile 1.9.0.1 from the site yesterday but no Jellybean as per your post 11 Jan 2012:
We added some new "Android" Operating System names to include:

- Ice Cream Sandwich
- Froyo
- Honeycomb
- Jellybean

I cannot explain that. Take the rar/zip off this thread. Unzip it and replace the DEVICES.INI in the directory

c:/programs (program files)/slysoft/clonedvd mobile

That will show all currently known profiles for Google hardware incl. jellybean

Subtitles with Clone DVD Mobile

If you choose to enable the subtitles are the subtitles permanent or is there a way you can you turn them on or off?

Rip purchased DVD movie to Google Nexus 7

Will this software allow me to rip a commercial DVD movie and then transfer it to a Google Nexus 7? I have not seen anything definitive on that.

No switch

AFAIK once you have them "on" in the output file they stay "on". It's not the same as the copy of a VIDEO_TS folder with menus, etc.

I listed some guidance tips in the first post in this thread. Adding or changing the number on the name does not alter the video viewing and what worked for Nexus 1 will work for 2,3,4,5,6, ..... ad infinitum

http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_google_nexus_7-4850.php tells me this is nothing exotic. So you can take the Samsung list item "Any Android" since there was an older pre-android Galaxy Nexus

Does clone dvd mobile support - Android 4.4 KitKat looking to buy a new tablet and most are a - Android 4.4 KitKat version

Sure it does, just use the generic android profile, and if u use a player like MX player that's not even needed, as that one plays just about anything. From your standard mpeg file to mkv's
