In an interview with the director, it has leaked out that Sony does indeed intend to release ANOTHER version of Casino Royal ("Ultimate Edition") that WILL include the Directors commentary missing on this version as well as more bonus footage. So F___ Sony! You all have my permission to rent and copy Casino Royal, for now, as long as you promise to buy the "real" version when they relese it. OK? Aside from everything else, they are deliberate double-dipping bastiches. -W
I rented Casino Royale to preview it. The rental store copies said it was a 2-disc title(I only received one disc) I assumed the directors comments and all of the other junk were on the 2nd disc?
Disc 1 was purely the movie, trailers, and warnings in a few languages about copyright. Disc 2 was the bonus material: Becoming James Bond, James Bond for Real, Bond Girls Are Forever (2006), Chris Cornell Music Video and trailers. As for the 2 disc set with the rental store only renting 1 disc, I know someone who works at a [larger] movie rental store and they did not rent out disc 2. The simple reason was in at least half the instances [in the past] when the [2 disc] movies got returned the 2nd disc was missing. It became nothing more than one enormous headache. They simply stopped doing it unless it was a completely necessary 2nd disc.
Nope... Directors commentary is always attached to the Main Movie as an alternate running audio track that you can select instead of the normal movie sound-track. I normally delete that track to save space on a burn... but if the movie is exceptionally wonderfull, or wierd, I keep it to see where the director's head is at. And while double-dipping happens a lot, greed is systemic at Sony. We have reason to dislike them. -W
But their DVD players technology and their variety of quality movies are nice. Also, can't forget about their TVs! So, in my mind they kind of balance each other out. That Casino Royale thing IS kind of dirty though.
I have to say, after checking it out in a store the day it was released, I assumed there'd be another release rather soon. It was pretty obvious, as the bonus material for this supposed "2-disc Special Edition" was absolutely pathetic... it all could've fit on the first disc. I refuse to buy DVDs that don't contain obscene amounts of bonus material on principle alone... which is also one of the factors keeping me out of the HD market at the moment.
feature disc has 2 audio selections keep the first and your quality bar on clonedvd will go up by about 7% (cant remember exact % but that is approx not lower anyway) second i presume was directors commentry although i did not test this..
Do you still presume that? The whole point of this thread is that the 2nd track is not a directors commentary at all. They are holding that back to re-release it. That's established fact, not presumption. -W
Casino Royale I have trie to copy Caisno Royale and it won't copy. What pops up is something saing 'parse VTSM rntime exception files VTS_ 11_ O.IFO Does anyone know what this means...I am not great at this but I have been copying movies with out a problem till now. I use dvd decryter to decrypt. Help
On the second disc UK Region 2 had a look at 2nd Disc Features: 4 special features on the Extra disc are.. Becoming Bond 26mins James Bond: For real 23 mins Bond girls are forever. 3 clips totaling 13 mins Music Video "you know my name" 4mins And thats it, no trailer/deleted scenes/out takes etc. The main disc is just the film. Our local Asda supermarket has all James Bond DVDs at £7 each - not just Casino Royale, I'm not complaining £7 isnt bad for a DVD 2 Disc Edition but to market this as a "2 disc collectors edition" is stretching things a bit, those extras could have gone on the main disc. Now I have no doubt there will be another release in a couple of months.
Screw Sony I am not as into the technichal aspects as some whose posts are here but it is still good info. When I run into a problem ( usually with a sony movie ) I look here to see if there is a work around like with "The Grudge". I use Shrink and am completely willing to let the occasional movie that cannot be copied ,without a lot of complicated rework, go. AnyDVD and shrink are a nice one two punch. Simple and direct. No need to get wound up just relax and try another movie.
