I have spent many hours working through various threads and fixes to try to fix this problem but am still unsuccessful. I get this error on about 90% of titles I try to backup, but not always. I have tried to be thorough; hopefully I haven't left any information out.

1) Windows XP SP2

2) Logfile for <3:10 to Yuma> attached

3) Use AnyDVD with CloneDVD2. CloneDVD reports Media write error----WriteDVD 10 11 W2 (always at 50%) during burn process

4) Have removed all known packet writing software from system

5) a)Anydvd version 6.3.1.5
CloneDvd2 version 2.9.1.5, and b)no other known burning programs installed.

6) I experience this problem with 90% of discs, but logfile is for a)310 To Yuma, b)R1, c) USA, and d) release date 1/8/2008

7) Drive = PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D - [FW 1.29] - [ATAPI]
Write Capabilities = DVD+R DVD+R-DL DVD+RW
Write Capabilities = DVD-R DVD-R-DL DVD-RW
Have flashed to latest drive firmware (1.29)

Do you ever have problems with single layer discs or is this only an issue with burning DL backups?

"Padus ASPI Shell filter driver. Comes with Nero 6.x/7.x.x if you choose to install it, comes with WinDVD Creator, it comes with DiscJuggler and it comes with NVIDIA Purevideo decoder."--from http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/about4719.html

Pretty weird . . . pfc is listed twice. That's not good.

Get rid of it completely.

i) Create a backup of your registry
ii) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)
iii) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Select "pfc". Click "Remove Selected Filter".
iv) Select "pfc" again . Click "Remove Selected Filter".
v) Click "ok". Reboot

Please note that whatever program that installed PFC will no longer work properly.

2. Ensure you're selecting "dvd+/-R DL" near the quality bar in Clonedvd.

3. Unfortunately, the capacity to burn dvd+R DL properly is one of the first things to often die in burners. I would try this method with clonecd to see if it works: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=327

Thanks for the replies. I would swear I had deleted those filters already using imgburn...I will do it in the morning though and repost tomorrow with results.

To answer some of your other questions, I hate quality loss, so I don't mess with the discs at all, and always burn at dvd+/-R DL quality.

Also, for this reason, I haven't burned a single layer disc in ages. I also got a failure when trying to burn with CloneCd, again at 50%. To that point, it is interesting to me that regardless of the movie I am backing up with CloneDVD, it always fails at 50% in the burn process when it fails (I do get lucky every once in awhile, like with "Shoot 'em up" most recently). Is this when it is at the media break?

I used to have such great luck with this software combination and Verbatim media, I am not sure why the problem started occuring.

I can try swapping out drives, I have a plextor that always seemed to work great, but I got the Pioneer when I thought the Plexter was causing my old single layer backups not to work on my DVD player (but it ended up being the DVD player).

If either of you have any suggestions for a better drive (SATA or EIDE), I am totally open to ideas. I am getting ready to build a new system and almost have all the components assembled, just need the optical drive and motherboard. It will be nice to give this a go on a clean system too.

Again, thank you for all of your help.
