can eac3to convert truehd to ac3 and put back in m2ts ?

i have an m2ts file of Ghostbusters and wish to convert the truehd track to another format and put it back into the m2ts file so that i can use avs video converter to make an mp4 file.

can eac3to do this ? looking to avoid having to manually demux/mux the whole thing

The short answer is no, eac3to can only extract/convert audio and not remux on the fly. tsMuxeRGUI can do this, tick extract core on the TrueHD stream. You are better off using Blu-Ray Convertor from VSO, you can do it from the original in 1 pass.
 
the software you suggest doesn't look like it encodes directly to mp4
 
Both the iPad/iPhone and PS3 settings will get you an MP4 container (h264 video and AAC audio).

i want control over bitrate (audio/video), resolution, container type, codecs, etc.

i wish slysoft had a high-end encoder that could handle the variety of blu-ray media that's out there. as well as other forms of media audio/video related.
 
It's in the works. In the meantime you can also use mediacoder, it's a bit complex to use and sometimes unreliable but gives good results.
 
thanks again ... i'll check slysoft's site in the future for this.

been using ripbot264 in the meantime for those discs that have truehd.
