Hello,

I’m having an issue with AnyDVD. I was using it on my laptop fine. However, I loaded it onto my desktop, which is a very fast machine (3.0 Quad core, dual GPU, 6 gbs of RAM, etc…), things go awry. The first couple DVDs the program scanned, it worked fine, and I was able to make a nice backup. But on the third DVD, my PC crashed (BSoD). Now anytime it starts to scan a DVD, even the one which initially worked, it crashes. And it only happens when the program attempts to scan a disc. Otherwise, my PC works just fine. Does anyone know what the problem could be and/or how to fix it? I’m using Windows Home 64bit.

Thanks!

Sounds like something might have gotten corrupted when it crashed. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling. My first thoughts anyway.

Something (software/driver) may be conflicting with Anydvd on your system. In order for us to check, post the Anydvd .zip file:

1. Use Anydvd 6.5.0.8 beta: click http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/SetupAnyDVD6508.exe

2.
a) Ensure Anydvd is running.
b) Put the problematic original movie dvd in your burner. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
c) Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
d) Select "Create Logfile"
e) Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
f) A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
g) Windows Explorer will open, and you will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f)
h) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
attach.gif
(in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
i) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
j) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
k) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
l) click "upload"
m) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

Bsod and restarts are often due to inadequate power supplies and hardware issues. The problem is happening while you're scanning; using your optical drive uses more power.

3. Get your power supply checked. Open your computer case and check for dust in fans, etc.

Thanks for the help.

I went ahead and installed the new beta version and was able to scan the DVD. It surprised me because it usually isn't able to finish scanning before it crashes. The log file is attached.

I don't think it is a power supply issue. My PSU is rated at 850GHz and my vents are clean.

I'm hopeful but wary as to whether the issue is resolved. So if you see anything which can be an issue, let me know.

Out of curiousity, are there any ever-running programs known to cause such issues, i.e., Spybot, Adaware, etc...?

Hmm...forgot to click upload.

Here's the log file...hopefully.

You are using NVIDIA SATA & RAID drivers. This could, in fact, be what is causing the BSODs. It is recommended to use the Microsoft drivers.

Do a websearch concerning NVIDIA SATA & RAID drivers. You'll find a lot of results for the problems they have been known to cause.

Refer here: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=22802

Thank you.

How do I which my drivers to Microsoft from Nvidia? Sorry, I'm not all that tech savvy. Where would I find these drivers?

You could also try AnyDVD's "Safe Mode":
Settings -> Program settings -> safe mode

Thanks!

What exactly does the AnyDVD safe mode do? Would I lose any functionality in other areas?

No, unless you use certain applications. Use the right mouse button for help.
