Hi and merry XMAS!

I can't rip my Blu-ray because my Apple MacBook Pro (MID 2009) with Windows 7 Professional x64 crashed.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000048, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000001, bitfield :
	bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: fffff80002ab82c9, address which referenced memory

I have checked the RAM with:
  • Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool (German: Windows-Arbeitsspeicherdiagnosetool)
  • Memtest86+
  • Apple Hardware Check

The MacBook works great, but with AnyDVD my computer crashes.

The Blu-ray drive is connected with USB and AnyDVD writes the blu-ray rip on an external USB drive.

Got AnyDVD problems with 8 GB RAM?

cya Steve

PS: The whole setup works with a Apple MacBook Pro (2010), Windows 7 Professional x64, 4 GB RAM

I removed one memory module and now it works.

Either the MacBook has problems with 8 GB or AnyDVD does. (Everything works fine with 8 GB except AnyDVD.)

Have anybody tried AnyDVD with 8 GB RAM?

Try swapping the 4 GB module that works by itself with the other one. It could be bad RAM and you'll want to rule that out completely by doing this.

That could just mean that AnyDVD is accessing parts of the RAM that your other stuff doesn't. How many time did you let memtest run through? It doesn't always pick up on errors on the first pass

Is it only with the latest version after you updated from 6.7.5.0 or did it happened also with other versions? If so it could be a bad RAM or also possibly a driver thing. If not it looks like a compatibility issue with the latest version.

Hi guys!

Thank you for your replies and tipps! :agree:

I tried this today and the rip with AnyDVD worked. The RAM modules seems fine.

I use VirtualBox under Mac OS X and a few virtual machines. This uses a lot of RAM and there are no errors. (But maybe Mac OS X uses other parts of the memory. There are also memory parts for the nvidia graphic device.)

A couple of times. For example: I ran the extended memory tests of Windows for three times.

Is it only with the latest version after you updated from 6.7.5.0 or did it happened also with other versions?
I tested only this version.

If so it could be a bad RAM or also possibly a driver thing.
Is AnyDVD not a kind of a driver? I am no expert/developer but the debug says:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.

PROCESS_NAME: AnyDVDtray.exe

I see there two explanations:
  1. AnyDVD tried to read from a defect RAM part.
  2. AnyDVD tried to read from a part that doesn't exist.

My next step will be:
  • I will put all RAM into my MacBook again and install Windows 7 Professional x86. I think, this must work because this Windows version can't access the whole 8 GB memory.

Once again: I am no specialist. If you need more information: Just ask me ;)

PS: My system is up to date. Every update is installed.

Anydvd doesnt have problems with 8Gig, im using 8gig myself without an issue. So it was probably also due to the defective ram module

Steve, don't know much about VM's under Mac but if you set one up with Win7x86 make sure it isn't allocated more than 4 GB, it does really weird things in the non-VM world like push drivers out into weird places. I'd set it up with a 3GB or 3.5GB machine which should be plenty
