Discussion Sad news for Cyberlink's PowerDVD users.

So let me get this straight: all this is done by Cyberlink/AACS etc. to protect what? The disc's menus? Or they just don't want their discs anywhere near a computer? I'm not familiar with UHD discs and just assume they work similarly to BD's.

PowerDVD 22 Ultra Release Date Jan. 22, 2024 Build Number 3526 patch

Perhaps a firewall rule to block it would be a good idea. You never know when it might decide to reset, or simply ignore that setting and auto-update anyway.

What's the best way to verify rip integrity?

Not technical on this stuff, but I think the process of ripping/copying audio CDs, is VERY different from ripping/copying DVD/BD/UHDs. The latter contain data -even if encrypted- which can be read and are compatible with, well, computers. Audio CD's do not contain such data, only tracks...

    PowerDVD 22 Ultra released

The only use I have for it, is its ability to properly play the admittedly unusual (and BD-J) Dragon's Lair / Space Ace BDs. Couldn't do so with JRiver and others.

How do I stop every AnyDVD update from forcing Autostart to enabled?

That part is not described to the user anywhere. No other AnyDVD option behaves likes this. So, it might well behave as designed/intended but it sure doesn't behave as described or expected. Please don't make this a personal thing. I can live with it. I only expect some common sense from the...

How do I stop every AnyDVD update from forcing Autostart to enabled?

Sorry, but that does not answer the question or address the issue. The problem is a user/program setting that is not respected and does not work. The rest is irrelevant (update checks, annoying forum users and even the function of Autostart itself).

How do I stop every AnyDVD update from forcing Autostart to enabled?

Thanks and sorry for resurrecting. Of course it is by design, since the developers designed it this way. What is the purpose of offering the user the option to change it then, since (by design) the user will be ignored and it will be changed back?

How do I stop every AnyDVD update from forcing Autostart to enabled?

The only thing that bothers me with the brilliant AnyDVD... Since you guys strongly favour the way it currently works and are happy with breaking the age-old computing convention that updates are supposed to retain user settings (unless we are talking about major updates - not the case here)...

    adding subtitles

Adding DVD subtitles (not encoding burned-in ones) while keeping menus and 1:1 quality is possible, but requires a bit of work and a combination of software, including CloneDVD. Nothing too dramatic though - leaving the menus out makes it easier.

    File/program version on installers

What you are saying here is completely irrelevant (not to mention rude).

    File/program version on installers

Like I said, it's not a life-and-death issue and I know what it takes to rename a file on each update. This is about filling a currently empty property field, nothing more, nothing less. If it's an extra burden for the developers (or if there's some other reason) it'd be perfectly...

    File/program version on installers

An example would be, if someone wants to maintain a single installer ("AnyDVD.exe" for example) and quickly overwrite it with every update, instead of constant renaming or deleting. Perhaps there are other scenarios where this might help and the file name can be renamed to anything, so it's not...

    File/program version on installers

Is there a chance your could include the file/program version detail on your installer files? It's helpful being able to quickly mouse-hover the installer to verify its version. I know you sort of include this in the file name ("AnyDVD8200") but still, this would be a nice touch. Thanks.

Does AnyDVD HD work with ISOs? (and PowerDVD)

Ahh, wouldn't it be nice if AnyDVD worked on folders too? Any chance for this to happen? Take a look at this old request: Mounting HDD folders by specifying them in .dvd file

BD folder creation - CloneBD quits just before the end

Tried extracting a protected image and using the folders as source. Also tried deselecting "maintain original menus" and even uninstalled antivirus (caused CBD problems recently). Problem remains.

BD folder creation - CloneBD quits just before the end

I've looked but I don't think they are created in this case. CloneBD seems to just close, it's not a typical Windows software crash. AnyDVD/image in VCD was always the source, just not sure if it was a protected image in all cases (quite possible).

BD folder creation - CloneBD quits just before the end

Thanks. If you mean this completion page, it is never reached. CloneBD quits just before that.
