    Storage of BD media

I think this is an important subject. I can't find anything posted on this subject on this forum. This is what I have found about storage of BD media, including burnt ones and commercial disks. 1. Burnt BD media cannot be stored where the surface is touching anything. You can find mentions of...

AnyDVD UHD Drives and Firmware Questions

I went out and purchased Storks in 4K UHD with a bluray disc so I can see the movie if I wish. I got that from a list I found scouring the forum. Not much to pick from. I was put off by the negative reviews of Westworld. The BDNS55 1.03 couldn't see the disc at all. After putting the...

AnyDVD UHD Drives and Firmware Questions

I thought of trying that if no trouble occurs. I'm happy though if it reads UHD. I didn't need a new drive so I was seeing how it works out. I was thinking of trying to find the ASUS drive that gets mentioned and just leaving the firmware for now.

AnyDVD UHD Drives and Firmware Questions

I just noticed this comment. I did use dosflash32_bhns40 in Windows. The drive seems okay, though burning behaviour seems different to me than my older LG drive, but I never tried that before the flash change. Everytime I've ever flashed a device it's been through Windows.

AnyDVD UHD Drives and Firmware Questions

@TeddyRaspin I've burnt a couple of blurays with it, single and double layer. The speed performs differently than my older LG bluray burner. It sits at 4.1X most of the time, and occasionally dips down to 3.3X or less. This is quite different than my older LG drive which would sit at 4.0X...

AnyDVD UHD Drives and Firmware Questions

Thanks to Teddy Raspin I have downgraded the firmware of my LG BHNS55 from 1.03 to 1.02. I want to do tests of different disc types to see that all is well. But I don't have any UHD discs. I was wondering what would be a good one for testing. I want something fairly mainstream and easy to...

AnyDVD UHD Drives and Firmware Questions

@TeddyRaspin do you mean SATA port 0, it's showing up as secondary master on 1? Update: I moved the LG drive to SATA Port 0 by exchanging the plugs. I now get the drive showing as Primary Master. I have backed up the flash to a bin file. I used DOSFLASH32_BH16NS40 executable. You say you...

AnyDVD UHD Drives and Firmware Questions

@TeddyRaspin The BHNS55 drive just isn't being detected with dosflash32 or dosflash32_bh16ns40. I changed AHCI to IDE. I moved it from SATA port 3 to SATA port 2 with the plug. I'm not great with hardware but this seemed fairly obvious. I checked in the BIOS to make sure it was port 2. One...

AnyDVD UHD Drives and Firmware Questions

Thanks @TeddyRaspin. Just a question about connecting up the drive. If I can successfully make a back up with DOSFlash, then does that mean I am okay to complete the rest of the steps to alter the firmware? That's with the 16NS55 of course. Mine is SVC 55. I think there are a lot of these...

AnyDVD UHD Drives and Firmware Questions

@TeddyRaspin I just happen to have access to a desktop tower with Windows 7 32 bit on it, Pro I think. I have this for a little while. Do I still need to use the Windows Live boot USB? I'll check the connections inside it, hopefully ok.

AnyDVD UHD Drives and Firmware Questions

I just went out and purchased the LG-BH16NS55 from reading all this. It has firmware version 1.03. I am just discovering from reading though that the firmware downgrade process probably can't be done if the drive is connected via USB. I'm wondering if an esata external connection may work. I...

    Allegiant, Canadian version

Just a suggestion from me. I really don't know much of what is going on here. But there is another option that might fix a dvd. Backup the entire disc, then open the files in a program called pgcedit. This program often detects dvd problems just on opening the files and attempts to fix them...

Anyone recommend a bitcoin service for Australia?

I just wanted to say that I was such a newbie that I didn't even know how to use BPay. I actually went to the BPay site thinking I needed to sign in. Till I worked out that I only had to enter numbers on the payment page of my bank account. It's got me started using BPay for bills. I did...

Thanks Chevron. My bitcoins are sitting there now, but only enough for the discount price at the moment.

Bitcoin ready but no more discount

Great. I just missed out on the discount, bitcoin funds just became available. Now waiting for more funds for the higher price.

Anyone recommend a bitcoin service for Australia?

Thanks, I think I've already responded to you in another thread by now too. I'm waiting for funds to show after transferring using BPay, which I did Saturday night. I reached pre-approval which might have been enough, my address document had issues, but I am fully verified now. I've looked at...

    Bitcoin Customer Feedback

I'm still waiting for funds to show in Coinjar. I was one of the belated MasterCard users. How much wiggle room did you use if you can say? I estimated around $116 or so for the AnyDVD purchase. I deposited $125 into Coinjar, which must be enough. I sent them a support request asking about...

Availability of Mastercard as purchase option

I'm still waiting for funds to show in my new bitcoin account with Coinjar in Australia, and the discount cutoff is imminent. I had been waiting for the MasterCard option. Coinjar seem to accept credit card payments from UK users, but not Australian ones, so there is a trend there. But it...

Paying with bitcoin for US Purchasers using Circle

I did find about Coinjar, thanks for mentioning it. I wish Chevron would stop replying to my posts about payment problems. I don't know why it bothers them so much. I seem to be in limbo though, I'm at the approval stage with Coinjar. That seems to be now at pre-approved, but I have to wait...

    Bitcoin Customer Feedback

I looked up bitcoin ATMs in Australia and they seem to charge fairly high fees, like 5% or more, I guess of what you are buying. Some don't say what the fees are online.
